1988 cougar 262A package with keyless entry, 5.0, and dual exhaust even down to the color options is exactly how i would have optioned the car if i was around in 1988

Seems pretty light. My 88 Thunderbird LX with every option but a sunroof, full tank of gas, aluminum headed 5.0, aluminum driveshaft, and 8.8 rear axle comes in around 3550lbs.

Dual power seats are heavy :hick:

Yeah but still 165lbs more stuff. With iron heads and a steel driveshaft it would be even more.

On the other hand with me in the car it's about 3710lbs, so about what a Coyote Mustang weighs.

Mine is 3630 with me in it (180). I need to reduce weight cuz it's gonna be a drag-race car once I drop in the 427W I'm finishing up. Does anybody know the weight of the power leather/suede seats in the 20th Anny? I know I could barely lift one out of the car. :hick:

Was that with a TKO? Our cars are equipped pretty much the same from the factory and mine is 3710 with me (160lbs). So subtract 180 for you and your 20th is 3450lbs, my LX is 3550. maybe the AOD adds 100lbs?

aod weighs about 160lbs dry and a t5 weighs 72lbs dry add about 24lb of fluid for the aod and about 6lbs of fluid for a t5

I know the AOD is heavy, but not 100lb more than TKO500. I have eliminated all AC components, not much else though.

TKO500 weighs 105lbs dry and with fluid 112lbs. The AOD with fluid probably weighs about 75lbs more.

Well AOD + A/C might explain the 100lb difference.

How much do power seats weigh in these cars?

I weighed a power drivers seat this weekend - 66 lbs!

So dual power seats total about 130 lbs. And mine don't even work properly.

That should be with power recline as well. My Thunderbird (and I assume your 20th) has power recline, which adds a bit more weight.

At least my car's seats work...makes it worth the weight penalty.

Yes, power everything, including recline. Memory function and the seat is also heated. Yeah, of course the passenger works fine cuz it's never been used, the driver's side need coaching to move the seat forward/back and up/down in front or back, I forget.

I do have a spare functional power seat track for the driver side. It's heavy, so it would probably cost $$$ to ship.

Thanks. I actually have a spare set of 20th seats in the garage. At this point I'm looking to lose weight for drag racing, might look at the spares for ideas to make them lighter.

Manual seat track would be a good start.
