Title: Next mod for 1 of the Birds
Post by: 1BadBird on March 25, 2017, 11:37:35 PM
Ok, I've started the modification on the steel hood. I put the center section I cut out of a damaged hood on to see what it might look like. I'm liking it so I'm going to start with this project.

That looks pretty good. I like the view from inside. What did you get the cowl from?
I might be trying something similar. I have the hood off my old Sport and I want to cut at the ridge, just outside where your cowl sits, from just back from the nose to the windshield, raise the back up 1.5-2in and weld in a new piece on each side with bracing. I'll have to add a 2-3in piece the length of the cowl at the windshield. I should have a smooth transition from front to back that conforms to the hood line. I would rather have a steel cowl hood instead of one of those fiberglass creations. My car is a TC and has a perfect hood I don't want to cut up.
I saw something similar done on a 57 Chevy so the guy could put a 6-71 blower under the hood.

The cowl section came from an aftermarket hood on a full size GM pick up.
