-already curling on the ends.....but it is 30 yrs old.....

You can actually fix that fairly easy without removing the aluminum backing. Just cut part way through the backing vertically where the curling is, warm the molding with a heat gun, and carefully bend it back into shape. It'll lay perfectly flat again.
