Hadn't logged in to my Photobucket forever. This morning I was looking for a technical photo only to discover my entire album on that site has apparently vanished. Luckily all my high end photos are backed up, but I had some technical car related photos/graphs/etc. that I had amassed there that I think are just there now as the only other place they would be is on an older laptop that has a corrupt hard drive.....
WONDERFUL....
Don't trust the cloud ;)
Honestly I thought I had backed up what was lost in another location.
Meh.... Oh well.
That sucks. I honestly didn't even know Photobucket was still a thing. I thought it had gone the way of Cardomain and MySpace. I'm paranoid about losing my data (photos mainly, anything else can be replaced). I've got copies of all my images on two laptops, a desktop, iCloud and Google Drive. That way if something happens at home (fire, theft, or a ransom ware virus that invades the whole home network) I've got offsite backups, and if something happens to one offsite backup I've got the other.

Dunno if it's still in progress or completed...
Sorry to hear about that Paul,
We got hit with a virus a few years ago that specifically targeted the default pictures folder that comes with Windows. It corrupted that folder and pretty much not much else. We lost hundreds of family pictures including 90% of our son's toddler age pics to about age 10 including pictures of him with his grandparents and uncle who have since passed away.
We were devasted and now have all our pictures backed up on two separate jump drives as well as burned onto cd's.
I no longer trust leaving them on a computer without being backed up myself and I never have felt comfortable relying on the cloud or outside storage means. No peace of mind for me in either.
yeah,, i said the same about all that cloud stuff long ago which people looked at me like im from mars.
Shopping at Best Buy one day a while back i wanted a new TV, guy showed me a smart tv with webcam and user enhanced experience feature. I started asking way too many questions. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago,,, apparently samsung, LG & Visio are all in deep poo. Wonder how many people know that you have to work your ass off to turn "off" enhanced user experience settings?. The Kim Kamando (talk radio) had a thing on about these TV's and users not aware cameras and data trends and such were auto turned "on" and very difficult to turn off. next firmware or software update and they are back on again . Tech is cool but too much is not
I saw an App yesterday where you can now actually chat & text with your favorite character in your favorite Book!
people now can construct thier make believe world,, only to later in reality to show up at the voting booth.
