Does gas mileage matter? I did my sn95 t-5 swap for $400, start to finish in a weekend.

If gas mileage doesnt matter, buy whats cheaper. The aod and a c4 have the same gear ratios 1-3 and I doubt you will need od while trying to go all out.

Sell the C4 and sell the AOD and get a 4R70W out of a V6 Mustang.  Put an electric controller on it, set up the shift points, and forget it.  The AOD and C4 will require mods if the 351W has any balls at all or at least that is what I have seen with a couple of cars my buddies have had.  This is one of the controllers I have seen on some conversions as well as it seems to have a good rep on the forums:

If both of the trans you have are stock will you shift kit the one you keep and buy a converter for it?  Do they need work or can they be used as is?  Hate to see money poured down the throat of outdated gear.

You can build an AOD to take a decent amount of power. It's just going to cost $$$ to do so. I have ~$2k in mine but it's far from stock and probably overkill for what I have in front of it...
