As somebody who used to sell internationally, I can tell you why a strong dollar is not so good: It makes it so products you produce and export either cost the customer more (which hurts your competitiveness) or makes you less money (which hurts your bank account). The Canadian dollar being worth more than the US dollar a while ago is a big part of why I had to shutter Thundercat Electronixx. When I first started selling I was getting $1.50 CDN for every American dollar. At the end of it I was getting around 80 cents. It was costing me more to make (my raw materials costs tripled - copper wire alone went from $10 for 100 feet to $40 for 100 feet), package (boxing, instruction manuals, etc), market (eBay and PayPal fees also skyrocketed) and ship (shipping my standard box went from $5.70 anywhere in USA to more than $17) the items than what I was getting for them.
