Title: New Truck: 2013 F-150
Post by: 50tbrd88 on July 24, 2016, 03:40:33 PM
I'm glad to say that I'm back into a Ford truck!  My brother bought my '10 Silverado ext cab, which allowed my to go buy this supercrew.  It's a Lariat which is amazingly luxurious for a truck...really nicer than what I wanted/needed but I got a really good deal on it.

It's blue jeans metallic with I believe the 501a package.  It also has the 7700 gvwr package along with (my favorite part) the 6.2 engine.  It's fairly rare to find in a non-Raptor F150.

I really like it so far.  It's a lot more solid feeling and better riding/handling than past F150's I've owned and has plenty of HP to boot.  I drove it about 3 hours home from the dealer where I bought it and was really surprised to see 19 mpg on the display.

Looks like a nice ride. Had no idea you could get a 6.2 in a non-raptor.

Nice!

I think the 6.2 is only available on the SD now and not the F-150.

Thanks guys.  Finding the 6.2 in a non-Raptor is very rare which is why I jumped on this one when I found it.  I believe in the first few years (2011+) the 6.2 was only available in the raptor, Harley-Davidson edition, and the Lariat limited.  In '13 and '14 they opened it up to some of the other trim levels.

Thunderjet302; I believe you are right, they phased the 6.2 out of the F-150 line with the 2015+ new models.

Checked the oil in the new truck last night and found it to be waaaay over full.  My guess is either 1.) dipshiznit dealership employee overfilled it carelessly or 2.) the truck was started, moved 10 feet and shut off again multiple times resulting in moisture and/or Unburnt fuel in the crankcase.  We used to run into this from time to time at the John Deere dealer I previously worked at.

I called the wife to see if she could stop and grab some oil on her way home tonight.  Looks like the 6.2 holds 7 quarts of synthetic oil so it won't be a cheap oil change.  But the peace of mind is worth it I guess.

I would guess 1.  Looks like a nice truck.  I have a Chevy with a 6.0, let me know what your real MPG are, my 6.0 is a gas drinker.  Guess my 1500HD is a heavy pig.

My buddy with a Raptor, is getting around 13 avg.

I averaged 16.3 mpg on my first tank.  This included the 3 hour drive home from buying it along with some short trips and idling in park with the a/c blasting to keep the wife and kids cool while I ran some errands.  I'm pretty impressed so far.  The truck has 3.55 gears which seem to be ideal.
