Title: 88 Shifter
Post by: Foxy88TurboCoupe on June 16, 2016, 09:01:37 PM
Just bought my self an 88 with only 36k original.  This is the most mint TC I've came across. Babe is still fresh in the wrapper.  The shifter  is about gone.  The gear #s  and the "turbo" lettering is about wore off. The original owner was a NAPA EXEC.  I guess he must have kept his hand on the shifter all time.  I don't blame him.  It's a sweet ride.  Anyone know where I could find a replacemen?  I have scoured the net or eBay.  They just seem to not exist or someone is asking 200+$.  Obviously Ford does not sell them anymore.  Thanks.  All help is appreciated.[ATTACH]37499

NOS turbo coupe shift s are hard to find and fairly expensive when found.  If you don't mind not having the "turbo" script, a leather shift  (similar to part number XR3Z-7213-BA) makes a good stand-in.  These were used in early-mid 90s Mustangs.

You made a good score on your turbo coupe.  It looks gorgeous!

Try the NATO site.( If you haven't already) A lot of TC purist over there. Someone may have 1 stashed, ya never know..... As already mentioned ''IF'' you find 1 be prepared to spend big$$$. I found 1 a few years back in a salvage yard that was in very good shape.. It sold for $250.

I think I have one in the garage that is in nice shape. I'll look for you and get you some photo's when I find it. The lettering was all good on it.

Post up some more photo's of the car too. And remember me if you ever want to sell it. It'd love to find a nice low mileage TC.

I personally couldn't find one so I ordered from LMR a mustang replacement.    Screwed right on.  Didn't sit quite as far down on the shifter as the original but I just lifted up the boot slightly and it works just fine.  Looks just like the original exception being the "Turbo" lettering on the original.  But it looks much nicer than the tattered leather falling off of it shifter  I had on it.    Here's the link
