Title: Clutch slipping please help!

hey guys back again with a new problem!

sooo. since i picked up my bird i was having clutch problems. after putting in a firewall adjuster a new oem cable and effectively destroyed the shiznitty plastic stock self adjusting quadrant.  so i ordered the steeda double hook quadrant and wiggled it in there.... now for my problem...

since i installed the firewall adjuster and new cable the clutch started slipping at around 2900 rpm, especially in 3rd gear and above. Ive adjusted the cable up and down with the firewall adjuster, had a buddy check out what the cable was doing under the car etc, and everything seems to be fine; the problem persists regardless of where the clutch engages on the pedal path.  so what gives?? i cant figure it out and the clutch, though it is stock to the car only has 50k miles on it..... any ideas fellas?

Slipping clutch usually means not enough disengagement or that the clutch is burned up or worn out.

If you peak in the inspection hole, the throw out bearing should be completely disengaged from the pressure plate fingers. If its not, that is the slip right there. I don't really get why everyone is so picky about adjustable cables and firewall adjusters and said that parts store cables are no good. I had no issues with the stock OEM  or the cheapie auto zone cable.

Adjust it with a little free play at the pedal, if it still slips it's probably shot.

You're a lucky guy... :bowdown:

Try those parts with a performance pressure plate, you'll see why everyone bitches about how py the stock parts are... My older daughters '86 2.3 Stang busted the quadrant, didn't have more than 75-80K mi at the time... The '87 2.3 Stang I gave the younger daughter went almost 200K mi without issues, no doubt a  shoot...
