Have a 1984 Cougar XR7 (5/1984) 2.3L Turbo with manual transmission.
We just redid all the engine seals because of leaks but when we put it back in the car it will not start except on ether. Checked and have fuel coming in but for some reason it is not getting through to the injectors or not enough, need some input. Thanks.
You probably have fuel, buy not enough pressure. Put a pressure gauge on it and post back with the results.
If it fires on either it has air and spark. Check everything fuel related, included wiring to make sure fuel pump is working. Hook a Fuel pressure gauge up to verify fuel pressure on turn key and it holds pressure to start.
Does it start and run on spray or just start briefly?
Sbf tech has a killer efi no start checklist. The whole thing takes less then 10 minutes and will tell you what's wrong.
How old is the gas?
Had to pull the engine on our 1984 Cougar XR7 to do rear seals and after putting it back in we are getting no fuel at the injectors. We have fuel and pressure at the relay, car will turn over on ether but the injectors are not engaging. Open to ideas. Thanks.
This the same issue you were having before?

Merged with your old thread.
You were suggested things to check and never followed up.
You have spark, air and supposedly fuel.
Check your fuel pressure.
Check ALL of your electrical connections. The ECU grounds the injectors to fire them based on signals from the Hall sensor and TFI module on the dist. Those TFI connectors get old and the wiring gets flaky.
