Title: Wiper Motor controller Issues?
Post by: jdouglas87 on October 10, 2015, 03:35:24 PM
Hey Fellas (& ladies)

So the other day I went to use the windshield wipers and they work fine in all modes except when they're turned off they just stop instead of retreating below the hood line.  Is this a motor, controller or switch issue.  If I remember correctly, theres a little black plastic controller box under the dash but not sure what it does. Any guidance would be nice before I dive into it.  Peace

Thanks, that was helpful.  Anybody on this board have a (good) governor laying around? I've seen zero Birds/Cougers in
the Cali yards lately.

Can you post a pic of what it looks like? I may have one.

When you turn the wipers off do they stop immediately or do they move to the bottom of the glass?
With the wipers off, operate the washers. What happens?

I had the same problem.
Thought it was ground so I creaned all the grounds but nope.

It was the control box, it was filthy inside with just a lot of black goo of some sort.
I took it apart and cleaned all the copper contacts with alcohol and then 1000-grit sandpaper.
