Here's the source I got from JCassity: 199mph electronic speedo modification- by bondocougar
http://www.coolcats.net/modifying/199speedo.html

I have just finished the project, and can vouch that it works.    If I can figure out pictures to this post, I'll add  the steps I took.  I have ran into an issue though.  I've lost Illumination for the speedometer (Just in the speedo)

Took roughly three hours with breaks to mess with.  Thought I burnt the board for a moment while working this out.

You probably need to replace the bulb in the speedo, if that's the only thing that went dark

Hoping that to be the case,  long process for just a bulb; but it beats the alternative.  Thanks for the response.

Alright, took it most the way apart, and the illumination is back.  Project successful.

I was about to say,, that's a lot of jumper there!

don't need anything but a tiny hair of wire  30awg - 22awg at best

No doubt, just took two strands of copper out of a wire and braided them.  Figured that if I'm going through the effort of doing it, I wanted to make sure it was sturdy.  Overkill in this case was the best medicine.

I tried this when bondo cougar first posted this. I took it all apart, got my jumper wire and soldering iron all ready to go, tinned the soldering iron a bit and as I got ready a blob of solder fell right in the center of the w-2 spot. I went huh, through it all back together without the jumper and just the solder and it worked fine. I was 16btw.
