So I'm wondering how hard it would be to replace my standard digital dash with the full digital dash, on my 1988 thunderbird, and what all I will need to do to get the electronic rpm guage, etc, hooked up, as the standard digital dash doesn't have an rpm guage.

Here is the picture of the standard digital dash seen above and the full digital dash below it.
Try coolcats.net I think there is a link there. If not, sorry, I havent been paying attention.
Guess I was wrong, cant seen to find it one there. Someone on here should know or have a link how to do it
It's actually the reverse of this document but it will help:
1985-88 Electronic-to-buttstuffog Cluster Conversion Guide (http://"http://www.coolcats.net/media/docs/electronic_to_tc_cluster.pdf")
We'll in not sure, for instance, if there is a wire that controls the tachometer under my dash (when converting to the full digital dash) since my dash doesn't even have a tachometer on it
Your gonna have a HELL of a time finding the correct fuel level sending unit......
just get an aftermarket tach and stick it where the clock is.
Is it hard to find the sender? I used to trip over them in the junkyards.
The full digital sender is different from the rest. If you can find some I'll take them for spares.
So in order to convert to the full digital dash I have to get a hold of the full digital dash sender?
I've got a full digital cluster sitting around if you don't have one.
You need the fuel sender that corresponds to the full digital dash. They read differently.
Good thread here:
http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?2283-Fuel-tank-level-sending-unit
The thread shows them as available, but that was 9 years ago. Any left are NOS on shelves or salvage yards.
Yes drewstang I am still looking for the full digital cluster at the moment, although I guess I also need to look for the fuel sender that goes with the full digital cluster, and also the tachometer sender too
I do still need the full digital cluster at the moment
I'll dig mine out an take a pic. I'm not going to use it on my project. How's $40 shipped sound?
We'll I'm not sure just yet, I need to find out what else I'll need to get to make sure it doesn't exceed my budget when I put everything together
If you follow this link: http://www.classiquecars.com/thunderbirdelectrical80s.htm
and scroll down they have a section for fuel sending units although I found the one that I think I would need, I definitely don't want to spend $225 for it.
hey drewstang, can you still take a picture of that dash, also does it come with the shift indicator cable because i need that also.
Bumping an old thread, but rather than start a new one... Can someone tell me if the buttstuffog sport dash is basically interchangeable with the turbo coupe from a pinout perspective. Said differently, if I follow http://www.coolcats.net/media/docs/electronic_to_tc_cluster.pdf to convert from buttstuffog to digital, is the wiring the same for the sport dash?
