To those of you that have done the swap, what has to be done to make the a/c work? I've been digging through diagrams and still no luck. Help!!!!!
Is WOT signal OK?
I'm guessing not since I had to repin most connections going into the dash harness. The A/C is the only part I'm having trouble with.

It's down to this wire and finding where it gets its signal. It's the positive feed for the low pressure switch. The colors are light green with purple stripe. If I power this wire the compressor kicks on. BTW ice cold air is my favorite!
From the 88 EVTM:
C232 Gray 8 pin connector.
C344 Black 4 pin connecter
It depends on the year of the TC. 87-88 uses the IRCM for then clutch circuit relay. Post Year to continue!! Or power that wire up to the dash control circuit that controls the clutch in the dash. By the way you have to get it after the CCOT switch. Reason being you do not want to ice up the evaporator if you get a low charge.
My car is an 88 TC swapped to 5.0 using an 88 thunderbird 5.0 harness.
I am guessing the IRCM went away with the 2.3.
That leaves you without an WOT AC cutout.
You also lost the feed back to the EEC pin 10 to tell the EEC that the AC clutch is engaged.
Do want to put either of those back in?
Is the cable from the dash control, that I circled, still there or was it pulled out?
All of the TC specific stuff is gone except for the dash harness.
I didn't mean to use the IRCM.
I mean to do the WOT cutout and EEC pin 10 the way it is done on the 5.0.
Here's what I found in the archives.
GreenPuple-A/C low pressure cut out switch(this one's tricky, the original a/c compressor was on the pass side(5.0drs side) so stranglely enough you will find the car's greenpurple wire in a grey 4 pin connector near the pass headlamp assy. What i did here was cut the green/purple at the switch and soldered in a new wire and ran it down the pass side to the grey 4 pin, then i stole the connector from my 4 banger harness and inserted the pin and soldered it.
But I don't have the TC headlight harness or a TC close by to compare it to.
If the WOT is the relay on the passenger strut tower, then I haven't messed with that quite yet but it is hooked up.
This is C344 that I circled in the diagram I posted.
So, does this mean you can turn on the AC with the dash control?
The IRCM is on the front side of the strut tower.
I am more than a little confused here. Are you using the IRCM or did you install an EEC power relay? Does the car run?
I can turn on the A/C by powering the light green/purple wire. The EATC does not control the a/c clutch like it should.
No IRCM means No fans WOT cutout and AC clutch. And of course no Fuel pump!!! So clearly you bypassed does the car run, Sounds like you are carbed if it runs. Am i right?? If so you need the clutch enable lead from the dash and wire it in series with the CCOT switch.
The car is evi and it runs, Tom you're telling me what I already know. What I'm trying to figure out is what wire I'm looking for.
Didn't realize you had EATC.
The wire you are looking for is the green/purple wire and comes from the "blower motor speed controller". The first connector it comes to is C232 located at the LH fender apr0n near the starter relay. I circled this connector in the diagram I posted earlier.
Not sure where the blower motor speed controller is located in your car. But it will be an electronic module with a heat sync and be in the HVAC air plenum.
I replaced this in my 01 Merc GM and it is mounted in a hole in the engine compartment side of the firewall.
Notice in the diagram, the key has to be in "RUN".
Ok pull the AC control panel and put a tone set on the LG/P with the connector removed from the switch than find iot with a probe in the engine compartment. It goes to the IRCM connector. Tomorrow i will get you the pin number so you can find it at the IRCM connector. I am assuming the IRCM is GONE!!.
The ircm and the related wiring are long gone. I'm picking up another TC on saturday I'll see if I can fi d what I need from it. There is not a green/purple wire coming out of the eatc unit, if that were the case it would of been a done deal. The wiring softouch is talking about should still be on the drivers side but I'm having a hard time remembering what connector it was in and I'm unsure where I put the TC headlight harness.
The connector C232 that the EVTM shows carrying the green/purple wire does also carry the headlights, front parking lights and fog lights wires.
This is where a tone set comes to play. Just hook it to WHATEVER the lead is or whatever the color and find it in the engine compartment bundle. Simple Done finished. A tone set is mandatory in my line of work. Many times i have found wires that were not where they were said to be. Good luck!!
The green/purple wire is in the headlight harness only in turbo coupes.
Anyhoo it starts at the blower motor speed controller. I believe I have found a picture of it in the EVTM. Maybe you can trace it from there.
I'll be in the garage tonight, I'll see if I can find anything there.
The TC I'm picking up Saturday is an 87, wonder if there will be much difference in that part of the wiring.

Both have IRCM and are identical
True but as far as wire colors they might be different.
the 87 is a no go, too much of the wiring is gone.
Let me try and remember how this all goes. The green/purple wire that comes out of the drivers side must be routed over to the low pressure switch then to the WOT relay that is part of the V8 harness. From there it goes to the AC clutch. Just rememeber you need the diod/resistor that goes between the clutch + and -.
Adam, what wire did you tap into at the WOT relay?
I will have to look at my harness when I get home tonight but you should be able to tell from the top of the relay which two wires are the coil and which to are the contacts.
I got it!!!!! down where the headlight harness plugs together next to the battery, the green/purple wire changes to a slightly different color of green with a really fine purple stripe. I took the newly found green/purple stripe wire upto where the green/purple comes out of the 5.0 harness and Bingo!!! now I have control of the A/C clutch from the EATC!!!
