Both are 3.8's with the 3 speed. I have been talking off and on with the owner of the 86, but he's over 2 hrs away. The 85 is about an hour away, and I can take the train down there.

It looks like the car in Madison needs less bodywork at least from the only side that is shown. The other one looks like it has major rust. Make sure that you check underneath for frame rust on whatever you buy. It seems like a lot of the foxbody's had major rust problems underneath. Both cars are really cheap and will require quite a bit of work. Sometimes it is worth it to pay more and get better shape although the Madison car looks pretty solid on the outside. It's worth a look especially if you can find a junkyard close by to acquire parts that you might need. Good luck with whatever you do. Herb
I'm leaning towards the 86 myself
If those are the only 2 choices, I pick the one less rusty.
More interior & some underhood pix of the 1986.
What's the plan with this purchase? Driver, speed machine, project, parts machine????

Well my Ranger is my commuter, so this would be my pleasure vehicle. But man, I'd LOVE to have this: http://southbend.craigslist.org/cto/4621157567.html I bet I could patch it just enough to drive it home.
IMHO....if this is for fun....find nicer examples....and a V8....
Thanks
Travis
Fun/when I want to take a break from driving a manual. Of course, I'd prefer a V8, everyone would.
Can anyone confirm if that 85's mileage is legit? The S in the middle isn't lit up.
I'd say pass on all of them. Considering I paid $800 for this two years ago: http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?34909-Now-we-have-4-cars-floating-around&highlight=mark+vii
If you already have a car to drive then I am with thunderjet302, pass on all of these as they are going to require a lot of work. I liked the Sport but that porno red interior is not something I like so I would pass quickly on that one.

Plus all the cars he's listed require paint and body work right now, which is $$$. More than what the car costs.
I think I am going to pass, I just found a 1983 Mark VI Pucci sedan that I'm going to check out.
This is better, kinda: http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/4638163604.html Still rusty though.
Well, that Mark VI was . I got the '86 bird (the 2 tone brown one). End up paying $540 for it.
