I was going camping with my bro, and the t-bird started to vibrate a lil, then went away. It came back about 15 miles l8r and I pulled over, my lugsnuts got loose somehow and the rim got chewed up, and well as the lugs, I took the car to a friend's checked stuff, put the doughnut tire on, got to camp and then like 30 min l8r the driver side front went down as I came out of the camp :disappoin
So I put a patch in the tire and drove to the junkyard. got 4 rims, and REAL good tires with good tread for $50 * my other tires were worn to hell* I put the rims on and left the old rims/tires/hubcaps there...and came home.
well at least you got new tires and rims for a good price. I had a trail I was pulling eas two tires and couldnt find anything else that would fit the bolt pattern. Ended up driving it about 100 miles home on the rim. When I got home my car was acting really funny. My dad looked at it and the exhaust had a hole in it and was blowing on the gas tank. Not near it directly on it. My dad said that the gas was boiling. That was on a 91 crown vic though. If it wouldnt have been for the fender thingy breaking and rubbing on the tire, my gas tank might have blown up. Glad to hear you got good tires though. How are the studs? Front or back is chewed up?
nah surprisingly they're ok, and it was the rear/drive wheel...when I rebuild this sucker it'll have chrome 10 hole rims ect...these are ok, but the backspacing is 1/2" off...It'll last a couple of months for sure, then into hibernation it goes
hello, was wondering if you or someone else, may have some clues on low idle on my 86 cougar. also when i push on the brake pedal, the idle drops a bit. let go of the pedal and the idle raises back up to where it was...still low. its the v6. i think there's a vacuum leak. all the hoses were replaced and/or checked. my cruise control is capped off at the firewall junction (tee). was wondering if i should repair my cruise control. maybe some one has had a similar problem. thanks in advance.
