Title: The simple lack of respect in today's society
Post by: jandmmustangs on June 04, 2014, 06:35:12 PM
So I had my driveway resealed on Saturday. The price was fair and the guy lives up the road from me (gotta keep local business going, right?). Jeremy did a beautiful job. We waited the mandatory 48hr period before driving on it and such. Came home to find this today. I only wish I coulda caught the little  in the act. Yes, my daily beater is a 94 escort sedan lol.

Maybe I am dumb, but how did he make tracks like that?

You aren't dumb, I've been trying to figure this one out myself. It looks like someone did a 40 point turn with a few burnouts. I'm almost ready to wager a motorcycle did the damage.

I'd be upset, too.  It appears to me to be the front wheels of a 4 wheeled vehicle since they look like a pair of tracks which are parallel to each other.  Riding mower or 4-wheeler?

That does suck, It is a shame how some people can be so disrespectful these days. And no shame on the daily driver I have a 1995 Escort with 337,000 + on the clock and a 1991 Escort with a little over 300,000 miles.

The only thing I can hope for is that karma will pay whomever did it back tenfold.

As far as the escort, mine has 165,000 on it. Just put a reman head on it over the winter and she purrs. Well, as best as a 1.9 with an atx trans can lol. Best $425 I ever spent.

Yeah no kidding on both. I did have to put a head on the 95 right before 300,00( missed it by a 100 miles) when it dropped the valve seat out it at idle. Thankfully the only damage was a dinged up piston top. Honed the cylinder, put in a new piston and rings along with a reman head and she is purring like a 1.9L(mtx) can purr.

Probably the same person that thinks nothing of tossing trash out his car window too.  I took a road trip to the Midwest and found the people and drivers much more courteous there.

My winter beater is a yota corolla with over 350 on the clock,  Yellow 2000 GT has 267 on the clock.  Wifes edge, I dunno, its low.  Her old exploder had 250 when I retired it.  IF you take good care of a car, it will repay you with many miles of service.  As for your driveway, That just plains sucks, can your neighbor/local guy do any thing for you?

Those tire marks are probably not caused by malicious vandals but instead are the result of an innocent turn-around in your drive on fresh topcoat.  It was probably the UPS truck, mailman, or somebody turning around in your driveway.  Our neighborhood just had the streets topcoated and I thought they were destroyed by the school bus, trash truck, and UPS truck making routine passage through the neighborhood.  The HOA contacted the contractor and received a reply that was posted to our BB.  Here's some of the text:

"There are questions about the tire marks showing up on the newly sealed roads. Please understand that this is a normal thing. One of the reasons, and the most common cause, is because sand is used in the sealcoat material for added traction and durability. Without the use of sand, the material would only last about half of its normal life. Since the sand is uniformly mixed into the sealer, some of the surface sand will roll out or off the surface of the sealer leaving the tire marks; we call it power steering marks. This a common concern, but rest assured these marks will dissipate within a few weeks. We ask that you be gentle with your turning for a few weeks limiting any tire marks. No K turns! Over the next few weeks it will mat down and the marks will go away. The surface of the sealer will start to get a shine on the surface. Also normal!"

Looks like a bike to me, one track entering the drive and the other seems to be parallel but at the end of the drive it looks like it leaves in the other direction.

We had it roped off thru Monday evening and our cars didn't leave any marks. I'm gonna let it sit for a month or so and see if they fade out. If not we'll do a recoat
