I just discovered this last night, is it for jack storage? I can't post a pic, but it's on the driver's side ledge inside the trunk.

I usually put jumper cables or other assorted trunk in there. I guess I never thought of it as hidden...

in my tbird, I have jumper cables, two factory jacks, the mini spare, a 20ft recovery strap, and an extra serpentine belt.

Back when I had my 87 XR-7 I had my amplifiers hidden in there.

I think its the difference between both 87-88 body styles, and having a factory spare or not. my 86 has the full sized spare, so it might not have the removable cover. I could swear my old 86 did though. been too long though.

every 87-88 that I have had has had the spare tire there. the 84 TC that I had had a plastic insert that slid down in there but there was no cover, not even a trace that there ever was one.
