Interesting, though the radio in my old '66 Ford prolly had vacuum tubes and it didn't sound all that great :toilet: :hick:

That is actually a really, really pretty stereo, though I thought the pre-outs were a bit redundant - after all, isn't the whole point of having a tube amp to actually USE the tube amp instead of an external unit?

In a lot of cases, you get that warm sound from the preamp more so from the power amp.  This stereo is most likely a preamp tube with a solid state power amp.  I don't know if you know much about guitar amps, but this stereo would be a lot like a hybrid ss/tube guitar amplifer.

I like it.  Here's a good home for it.

Nope, last Ford radios to have tubes were the '62s and maybe a few of the '63s(Falcon/Trucks). I had a '62 with tubes, but both of my pops '63 Galaxies(and my '64s) had transistor radios. Back then raidos were repaired, and after school I worked at a shop that specialized in car radio.

That is a pretty unit, but no where enough for me to to pay that price...

Tubes or not, you still get commercials.
How about a nice record player?

*Edit* - Dang picture wouldn't link.

They tried fixing that by making the needle press down really hard on the record and it worked but that ended up shaving the vinyl off of the surface of the record and eventually ruining the recording.
