The Fuel pressure regulator is most likely shot!!!

pull the vac line off and see if there is moisture in there.
V8Demon took his apart one day to see what all is going on inside, found lots of pitting and corrosion and basically a malfunctioning FPR.

or....
not enough good spark by way of the TFI / stator.
check to see if you have whitish/blue spark. anything else is weak and can allow some fuel to not burn and weep past the top ring and into the pan.

I had a fuel pressure regulator that was so bad on my TC, it was actually filling the oil pan with fuel in just a matter of minutes.

The search function is your friend as it's been covered on here several times.

AutoZone and OReilly's sell the code readers for about $30.

starterd it up today and it was sputtering and acted like it was going to die and noticed a ticking sound sounded like it was coming from an injector would that cause it to start like that and leak fuel into my gas

My friend if you do not find the source of the dilution you will blow that motor up. And maybe worse. Pull the vacuum hose of the regulator and key the ignition while watching the nipple on the regulator. If GAS comes out. BINGO you found the trouble!!! If an injector was bad you would have a giant MISS. Pull the plugs and look at them and see if they are GAS SOAKED. If one is the injector is leaking. But normally when an injector leaks on a running engine it blows the excesive fuel out the tail pipe . But it is not set in stone. You need to track this down IMMEDIATELY!!

And I'd not ever go back to that autohole that told you they couldn't pull codes.

My guess is the FPR is bad, as others have stated. Does the car smell like gas when it runs? Like it's running pig-assed rich?

After you get the issue fixed, make  sure you get an oil change....get a good filter too. God knows how many 'tards I see that change the oil, but not the filter. Gas in your oil will soon ruin the rotating assembly in the engine.

If you can't change the regulator, find a Mustang guy (or anyone who knows more than the local autozone guys) and give em a 12 pack to change it. Change the oil, and enjoy it. :)

They used to have a scanner that they used to scan them. now they do not have them. I used to go in and borrow it (good friends with most of the employees) until one day I went in to borrow it and was told that corporate AutoZone came and took every non OBDII scanner that they used for scanning customer cars.

I would just get a stock replacement one.  Should have them all over ebay.  What engine and year car you got?

Good now you have found the issue. Change all the injectors and the oil and filter and do not forget to change the FUEL FILTER ALSO. And drive off in to the sunset happier than a CLAM. Good Job and Good luck.

I still suggest running codes.... do a engine cylinder balance test and KNOW which injection needs replaced.

Stacks just a QUESTION!!! Did he not say he found the flooded cylinder???? And why in the world would one run a cylinder balance test with a leaky injector with diluted  oil??? Maybe he should run it on a DYNE that would be even BETTER!!! The part i do not understand is he said nothing about a MISS ???????? He may have a cylinder issue this is not over yet. I would suggest a compression test after he drains the oil and changes the filter and pours in some fresh oil. Just a thought!!!
