Thanks, guys - Back in the day I would have killed for some Cobra R's, but now that everyone has them I wanted to do something a little different. (no offense intended there as they are still some of my favorite wheels).  These are going to be a hell of a lot easier to clean than the 10-holes.

croga001 - I paid a total of $835 for the wheels and tires with free mounting, balancing, nitrogen fill, and shipping from American Muscle.  Then they sent me a $100 "voucher" for buying them, which I used to get some new lug nuts, a shifter , and a new lug wrench kit.:headbang:  I thought it was a really good deal.

I agree with the too many Cobra R's....its true...but the wheel does rock.

Anyways I like the look of the Terminator Cobra wheel...I didnt know they made a 4 lug model... looks good.

Your black ones look good on your car!  It does give your car a "don't mess with me" look and is different than the common Rs...

I wish they made them in silver to go on my silver 88.  The choice is chrome (which I don't wan't right now) or black (which isn't the look I'm going for, although they can work on a silver car).

Me too!  If they did, I would have probably gone that route.  Even better would be anthracite... I really like that finish.  Anyways - I'm not much of a chrome lover so black was the natural choice for me.

Heh, even though it would be hard do this to new rims, maybe I'll get black and powdercoat them silver or anthracite...  I thought I've seen silver before, but don't think they were 4 lug.  My hardware (brakes, etc) are in too nice of condition lose them for a 5 lug just for wheels.

Brian, what offset did you get--+20mm?  I'm thinking of getting silver ones for my 88. :)

Sorry for the late response, "BornInAFord".  We had kind of a family situation a couple of weeks ago and I haven't really felt like being on the internet much since then.

The specs are as follows:

Manufacturer: AmericanMuscle Wheels
Wheel Size: 17x9
Backspacing: 5.71" (145mm)
Offset: .071" (+18mm)

Ian - it was good meeting you at Carlisle.  Other than the wheels, my car pretty much looks like  in person!

Thanks for the details.

Brian, I followed your family situation from another forum and trust joy is restored.  I had to hug my kids, too.

Wheels look great Brian.  Does your car have quad shocks and if so did you have to remove them to get enough clearance?  I heard of many Fox Body owners removing the quad shocks (axle dampers) to get clearance but since you got you rims and tires from American Muscle I'm wondering if clearance isn't an issue since they make their stuff specifically for Fox Body Mustangs.  I'm thinking about a set of these for my Cat but don't want any hassles with fitting them.

Yeah I have the quad shocks still intact.  Fitment in the rear was no problem at all - plenty of room.  In the front, with the 9-inch wheel and 245 tires it juuuust fits.  A tiny bit of fender massaging was necessary because the car is lowered, and the A-arms need a little bit of clearancing because the wheels would sometimes rub at full lock.  All together it's maybe 20 minutes worth of work to eliminate any rubbing.  I don't think a car sitting a factory ride height would require any massaging of the fender, but I dunno...

Hey, that's great to know, thanks.  I'm hoping to lower the car soon so knowing what I might be getting into with the front wheels is helpful.  American Muscle even has staggered packages where you can get an 8" wheel for the front, so that might eliminate any rubbing issues.  Problem is they don't offer a staggered package with these wheels that you have.  Hmmm......

Right that's why I ended up with 9's all the way around.  I would have gotten 8's if they were available, but these worked out just fine in the end.

BTW, I found the silver 4 lug 17" 03 Cobra wheels.  Mustangs Unlimited has them for $140 each.  P/N MW17S 01, with 18mm offset (5.71" backspacing). I don't know anything about the quality, but they look similar to the black or chrome ones (except in silver). link (http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy01.asp?T1=MW17S+01&Category=Wheels+&CatKey=74-01)

Too bad I'm out of money. :(
