Title: new car, not a fox though
Post by: thundr306 on December 22, 2012, 02:51:18 PM
After 8 years of trying to buy back my 85 TC, I think I have finally given up. I also recently sold my 07 S197, with a built motor and single turbo kit. Also went back to the new owner and tried buying that one back, with no luck.

My original plan was to buy back the 85 and swap in a coyote. There have been a few fox bodies that popped up with coyote swaps, but nothing that really excited me. So I did the next best thing:

So far, I love it. And believe it or not, it's an auto. I never thought I would own one, but don't knock them until you have driven them. Also, an auto fits my future plans better!

Well, I am going to try and leave alone until spring, so I can get a baseline at the track. I just missed Atco and Cecil closing for the year. Then, probably run all year with a tune, cai, boss manifold, o/r x-pipe. If all goes well, maybe winter of 13/14, I will install a power adder.

How's your car coming?

Untouched for a long time now.  I think I'm gonna just sell it,  I just don't have the time,  between family, work, and school. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it.

Sweet. Boss302? I didn't know they came autoloaded? Buddy of mine recently picked one up. Had a hard time breaking 13's stock. Didn't fuss with it much and went right to a centri. I forget if it was procharger or Vortech though.

Thats a shame. You put alot of time into it. Maybe just let it sit until things slow down?

It's a GT/CS. I'd like to see what I can get out of it n/a first without going too crazy.

I've got to agree that Grabber Blue is just all that and a sack of chips. Would love to paint the '89 Stang that color someday.

Thanks all. I haven't decided if I like the Grabber Orange or Grabber Blue more yet.  Shame the weather is now py, it really cuts down on driving time.

thunderjet302...shame you are so far, I have a nice set of 19" California Special wheels/tires I could sell you!

The stock wheels on my Mustang aren't bad but the GT/CS wheels are pretty cool. Shipping would be horrible though :hick:. What wheels are on your Mustang BTW? They look pretty cool.

The 6 speed auto in the new Mustangs is pretty good. It actually responds very well to throttle inputs. It's almost as good as a stick.

They CS' are cool wheels. I would keep them, but they will never go back on. The new ones are 20x9/20x10 Avant Garde M310's.

Yea, it clashes a little with the Grabber Blue. I'm still undecided on the look.

Future mods: CAI, tune, axlebacks and ET streets. Any chance of 11.xx et's with the auto?

I would think 11.9 is possible. I've seen a stock 2013 auto GT run 12.6@111 stock with stock tires. It was ~65* outside.

I'm in the same boat.  Right there every time.  Seems whenever I go there it warms up..... 70 degrees in mid November after it was 25 the day before?  Paul must be at Atco again!

Was forced to run with a full tank last time out for fear of not finding gas after the day was done.  It was a few days after Sandy hit the Northeast....
Dead nuts consistent all day and the best 60 foots I've had...

What have you done to the car so far?

You're not the only one. All this summer it was nice and cool with low humidity. The day I go to the track it's 70* with 73% humidity. Great. Ran 14.12 @ 98.01. Lower humidity and temp and it probably would have been in the high 13s at over 100. I still want to know how to get nice weather on the day I run.

Thanks. Right now the combination is way off for the parts I have, but I have been planning for the future. Mods so far are: cai, boss im, cat deletes, gt500 axle-backs and a canned bama tune. The 28" tall rear tires, 3.15 gear and boss im are hurting et right now but I have plans to fix that next year!

All the blues match ;).

Our Mustang has been sitting waiting out the snow as well. Both it and the Thunderbird have been garage buddies since November.

Wish I'd known about this.  If ever I find one for a good price it will be a backup for the one on the car.  You never know.

Non-intercooled on the Magna?

The blues are close but will have to see them in the sun.

This winter just keeps getting worse here...another 12" today and 2-4" tomorrow.

The Magnacharger is intercooled.

Thanks....never named any of my cars but Im open to suggestions!

I should find out today what difference it makes. Opening day at Maple Grove. I'm using the stock pulley, injectors and tune that the kit came with. I do have a set of ID injectors and have talked to a few tuners about writing a custom tune.

Any guesses on et? 7lbs boost, cat deletes, gt500 axlebacks and drag radials. No suspension mods.

Have fun.  I'll guess you'll get a pass or two at 11.7-11.8.  You already have experience, and are already dialed in close to that.  It takes a lot more power and experience to wring out a tenth or two from 12 second passes than from 15 second passes.

I've never named my cars either (although a few have "named" themselves)... if you were going with a walking dead theme, "Terminus" comes to mind.  "Those who arrive survive."

11.6 is my guess.

Good guesses!!! made 3 runs all in th 11.6x range. Best was a 11.6@121 with a 1.78 60'. Car needs a custom tune bad as the shift points and a/f are way off.
