i opened the truck on my tbird the other day and one of the torsion bars that holds the trunk open had worked its way out of its socket, any safe or easy way to reinstall it without a special tool?
It's a mess trying to get them back in place but with a lot of effort and big plyers you can get them back in place.
Yeah, that ^.
I messed with mine one time when I had a sub box in the trunk. When I took it out I put 'em back in, and it was a little bit of a PITA.
I used the biggest pair of vice-grips I could find, and got in the trunk and manhandled the bars back in place. A small but stiff piece of pipe cold work, especially if it's bent a few inches from one end to clear the trunk seal lip area.
It's really not that bad once you find something that fits "just right" AND is strong enough to work 'em on with. The first side will be easy, the second is a bit rougher, as once the first one is on, there is that much more tension to overcome.
thanks for the feedback, thats about what i figured, luckily the dislodged rod makes a great prop for the trunk aswell haha
