so it does look like my door is pre wired for speakers, ( cool!) is this wire tied in the dash speakers, so if i hook a speaker to them they should just work? anybody know off hand if the light wire is positive or negative? sorry i am colorblind i cant tell you any more about the color wire.
If your car has premium sound and you are keeping the stock head unit, just changing the speakers, you will be fine. Premium sound sends signal from the stock head unit to the amp in the trunk that runs all the wires to the speakers in the cabin, from the trunk.
Pete, premium sound or not, the factory wiring goes through the door jamb first, then back and up to the dash speakers. ON ALL CARS. the terminal is crimped onto the in wire and the out wire so that with no speaker installed, the signal still goes up to the dash.
The difference is that on non-premium sound cars the wiring originates in the dash, and on cars WITH premium sound the wiring originates in the trunk.
Well i hooked up a door speaker, no sound or signal coming out of that connector, back to the drawing board :(
it looks to me like the door wiring goes straight to the dash speaker wiring, yet the door speakers dont work. any ideas?
Somebody said, that it may be disconnected somewhere behind the kick panels.
yes, the RH speaker is factory disconnected at the RH kick panel area. see the two different color connectors going into the large grey connector in the forefront of this pic? the brown one runs to the door speaker, i just plugged it in and it worked.

Ah, contentment. Sounds nice.
