Hey!
I'm wondering, which A-pillar gauge pods fit for the Thunderbird? I'm not expecting a perfect fit but those that can be heated abit with a heatgun to fit.
Tried a 87-93 Mustang gauge pod and that will never fit on there no matter how much heat I'll put on it.
Looking for a gauge pod for 2 gauges. 3 could work too.
Here is the POD on the MIDNIGHTER. Tom Jr custom fabricated and fitted from a cheap universal unit. Their is no unit that will fit that you can buy. You have to mold a universal one in to the stock pillar cover. Their are other T Bird sites that want these. But that is another story!!! But as some know i would rather have needles stuck in my eyes than OPINE. JR is a body man and he amazes me every day!!!

Lots of fabing and time to get it right
I spend money I don't have, To build cars I don't need, To impress people I don't know

I used one for a '94-99 Mustang, with a little heat and persuasion it fits pretty good. :D
I was actually thinking of the 94-95 Mustang.
Looks like a good fit after some treatment!
Probably gonna give that one a try :)
LMAO! What exactly was fabbed there? That is a stock parts store piece, that every boy ricer in between here and sacramento has heat molded to their A-Pillar. Have seen it 1000's of times.
WELL WELL lets see a photo is worth a thousand words,So you are laughing out loud. I specifically said Tom Jr molded a store bought unit in to the stock PILLAR COVER. Their is an old saying the one that laughs LAST ALWAYS LAUGHS LOUDER. I DONT BS or haven't you noticed it YET. Anyone with a heat gun and a couple of tech screws can bolt one on. THAT IS NOT OUR STYLE. Hope you have a NICE DAY. This BS is starting to get to me on this site. Either way i love it when some BEATER MOUTHS OFF ABOUT shiznit YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. So grab a hand full of tech screws and a heat gun and mount your VOLT METER AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ON YOUR PILLAR. I dont give a shiznit what you laugh about. My Son has hours making this for me. And every show we bring the car to it always makes people take a second look. We do not just screw on shiznit like beaters like you DO. I am finished with this BS of people calling me out. Care to respond to that better yet F %$# YOU. That is the end for me I AM DUN!!! Thank you for allowing me to share some of my projects with the people that care.

I used the same mustang one as above. it isn't a perfect fit but heat gun and smashing it makes it conform.
Side note, Cougarman I have those EXACT same gauges and pillar but my gauges are in the opposite spots lol.
And ya noticed it was smooth :P some one didn't look close before posting lol.
Tom, I noticed the lack of screws and thought it must be a fab. I like it, and when I get around to my interior I may just do one for myself that way. My shoestring budget and I are still working through mechanicals and form must follow function, not the other way around.
Well, this certainly turned a shiznit storm.
Maybe it's time some of us left our egos at the door...I'll start first, as that.
Thunder just for the record B must be blind. He asked about white faced gauges. Clearly the Midnighter has them. Just look at the PHOTO. This is what ME OFF. Not that it is my way or the HIGHWAY. I think between my staff and son we have built some dam nice cars. I wanted to share this and GOT HAMMERED AS USUAL. With that yes it was a shiznit storm. And i am very familiar with this sort of thing. (MARINE) So i would like to know why i got flamed posting a POD on a ford vehicle. Normally i am getting POUNDED for posting GM shiznit. With that if you think this is fair please ADVISE. It is not a TIT FOR TAT situation. A question was asked i answered it and got NAILED for absolutely no reason. Whats WITH THAT!!! Thanks!!
Tom: Just ignore him.
You've done a great job with your gauge pod and you know that! I really like that! :)
We'll see if I do something like that in the future but first I'll probably just get it on the A-pillar and get it all working. Got too much to do on the car this winter already.
I'll order the 94-95 Mustang gauge pod and make that fit decent with some screws and when I've bothered myself enough watching the screws everyday I might do something similar to what you've done :)
Thanks for the answers! :)
Thanks 88 I really appreciate your honesty and concern. Have a good day.
The one I had attached with double sided tape but 100 plus days made short work of that, I drilled a small hole and put a push tab in it, doesn't look as bad as a screw IMHO
Tom, that pillar pod that your son did is awesome. I'd install one in the Sport if I had one. Not sure what gauges I'd put there, but, I'd figure something out. He did some quality work. Thanks for posting the pics. Always look forward to seeing what you guys are doing next.
Thanks VINNY well appreciated.
Tom, your pillar pod looks great!! JR. did some great work. :D
Useless posting with no intent but to insult and inflame. Take a hike pal..... Tom, keep posting and don't let the idiotic comments get to you. There are enough smart people on here to sort through the bullshiznit and see whats up.
Thank You .
Looks good I have the sn95 stang pod without heat and mold mod. That will get done when i remake the harness.
I totally agree, Tom keep right on posting!!!!
So, you are so proud of yourself/son for spreading on some filler, and smoothing over some screw holes, LOL!
Great Fab Work! You are really impressing us! ROFL!!!
Ya know Big B if you cannot conduct yourself in a polite fashion, why don't you just keep your asinine remarks to yourself. This is a great group of people who are always ready to lend a helping hand or a great word of advice. Criticizing someone every chance you get is pretty childish.
Is there even one other person here that thinks this type of post has any use at all? Its childish and frankly i can only use the word obnoxious to describe it. You know its golden rule stuff...i learned when i was little, if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say it. Or better yet, offer some constructive advice, and show us all your amazing skills. If you cant be civil take a hike.
I'm not Tom Renzo's biggest fan by a long shot, but that shiznit isn't cool. That's not how we do shiznit here. Grow up.
I couldn't agree more!! I say Big B ....
PUT UP or
SHUT UP :beatyoass: Lets see some of your work!
WOW all this over a pod that looks and works great. Where did i go wrong??? Someone asked a question i posted it and to boot i guess BIG B did not see the WHITE FACED GAUGES HE WANTED for his car. Seems like i killed 2 birds with one stone. With that i9 appreciate the kind words ans these sites are for learning stuff. Sometimes i get pushy on things and my wife lets me have it. As for FOE i respect you knowledge and just wanted to say the window switch thing was BRILLIANT!!! Thanks Tom
First off, Big B is a retard.
Second, Even if he would've had something a lot cooler than Tom Renzos A pillar gauge pod, would that really give him the rights to be an ass?
No it doesn't.
And third, someone please end his misery.
Back on topic!
Thanks for all the replies guys, went with a 94-95 Mustang gauge pod. It should be in Sweden within in a week or so.
Also bought A/F monitor, Aeromotive FPR, fuel pressure gauge and a boost gauge for the upcoming Procharger.
BIG B it seems like you do not have a clue about body work and things like this. First off it is harder than you think to do this and have it not crack. Second we dont use SCREWS for that reason. Using screws to hold the pieces together will surely crack and look like garbage. The pieces are DURA MIXED TOGETHER. We use this stuff to replace quarters and such. Get in to this century and learn this stuff. Just to show you once again it is always better to laugh last as i once told you. Now show me the SCREWS BIG BOY!!!
WHAT DO YOU KNOW !!! NO SCREWS WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
Better stop you are looking QUITE SILLY!!!
duramix will outlast the car...
crazy strong stuff....
Big B(itch) looked silly in his frst coupla posts. Then his borderline racial comment in the other thread...
Tom, I know we've gotten snippy with each other a time or two, but man, you guys do have skills and the work certainly shows it.
You know what, shagface?
You could post something of your own doing instead of criticizing other people and what they've done.
While you're at it, impress ME by posting something constructive, if you can find the time amongst all your judgmental, throwing stones in a glass house presence here.
I remember a time just a couple-3 years ago when shiznit like you've posted didn't exist here. This has became the new Corral, and I f*cking don't like it.
Why don't you go sign up with the YellerBullet where there's 12,000 internet badass asshats just like yourself, and GTFO of this place...
302 we disagree on things and get steamed as you point out. But their is respect between us. Hay i argue with my kids and i love them to death. You know i am an old dude and want to pass on stuff like this. Not to brag just to help out as others do. I am an old ITALIAN and thick headed. But we all have something in common. We love cars and argue about it. Sometimes i am a dick but after thinking about it i realize others have great ideas. FOE did that window switch mod that blew me away. Great idea and i appreciated him posting it. It was something i never thought about and it was great. With that i meant no harm and i will town down my PRIDE. Others have things that they are proud of and have accomplished. I have learn a lot on this site and admit it. Thank you all and i appreciate the concern. Have a great weekend Thanks Tom!!
you guys can read more enlightening stuff from that dimwit and his attorney here: http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?34652-Um-thoughts-....
Hey guy's,
There is some interesting reading here for a Saturday night! I think it's a shame that this forum can't drug test those crystal meth's heads and send their a$$e$ down the road. I'm new to this forum and I really enjoy the fact that you guy's are pretty freak'in passionate about your cars. Tom, that link you attached about clutch's was assume! You also take the time to add a lot of pictures on your post's. I've learned more about car's from reading this forum in the last 4 months, than I've leaned in the 54 years before and I can show you some pictures of Jeeps, cars and trucks that I've worked on. Thing is they are 1962 and older (pretty basic stuff). Some of you talk way over my head especially when it comes to engines. Personally, I don't think some guy's like this "big b" deserves the time of day. Just don't answer them...period. Some day, they always say something to the wrong guy.... and it's gonna put him right where he belongs.
Can bump the thread a little by saying that I recieved my 94-95 Mustang 2 gauge pod and it's almost a perfect fit. Wont even need the heat gun for the install. Thanks all! :)
Bumping it one last time on the 94-95 Mustang gauge pod fitment in my 1988 Thunderbird (just for future reference if someone needs it)
This is after maybe 5 minutes with the heat gun

Like a glove! ;)
How about on an 84 pillar?
What do they look like? Can you post a picture?
I was just getting around to ask the same thing...LOL
You could more than likely use the same pod, as I think the only difference in trim is the earlier cars had two piece trim and the later had one long piece. :)
I hope not to reawaken the hostilities that accompanied this thread so without going there...
I was wondering if the 1994 to 1999 (or possibly up to 2002 or 2004) as in Autometer #10120 pod Mustang pillar pod is still considered the best fit, for the early 80's Cougar and Thunderbird? I understand that the 83 and 84 interior was pretty much a carry over from the 80-82 cars.
I have an 80' T-bird, so if my pillar post is basically the same as the 1983's shape (assuming the pillar trim was among the interior parts that hadn't changed in 83), I should be able to use a pod which matches up nicely on an 83-84 pillar.
Like the start of the tread pointed out, I know a 79-93 Mustang pillar is nothing like the shape of a 1980 pillars trim. I just bought one to give it a try and the 79-93 shape is nowhere the same and just plain huge compared to the 80's pillar.
If I could find an 83-84 in a junk yard, I could make an actual comparison, but they are kinda scarce in the salvage yards.
I picked up a Autometer #10120 pillar pod for a 94-02 Mustang, as some in the thread suggested for the early 1980's Thunderbirds. I'm going to try to use it for my 80 T-bird but can tell you that its not at all a good fit right out of the box. It might be close with an 83 but not 80-82.
It sticks up about 3/4" around the curved portion of the existing trim. I'm hoping I can trim both edges a little at a time (as needed) and then heat it up enough to get it widen up to sit up against the existing pillar.
Just thought I would make mention in case others with the 80-82 try to look into the same pillar pod.
