Title: Just having fun!
Post by: 86cougar on August 24, 2012, 04:44:34 PM
It just took me almost 3 hours to take the two transmission lines off my AOD transmission. All the grease needed to be wiped off,  I couldn't see what I was doing even with a light, I don't have a lift, just jacks. I think maybe a gorilla torqued them on. I didn't want to strip them, so I took a few breaks in my sweat soaked shirt to replenish my fluids. Now, it's time to take off the starter.... I just tell myself to take my time and do it right and it will be worth it when it's all done. Later.....

if you have a set of tubing wrenches those work really well for taking the lines loose.

Actually, I have never heard of them. I'll have to look into them. Thanks!

They do work great, we always called them line wrenches though.

Thanks for the information! I just finished taking the starter off.....What a day! My poor starter has always done a great job, probably because of my Optima battery kicking it's little butt. It looks like a ball of grease. It also still has the original Motorcraft label on it. I'm thinking I might just dig a hole out in the back yard and give it a decent burial. Twenty -six years of loyal service....
