i am looking for opinions on the best 6x8 speakers for the money, budget up to $100 for a pair. they will only get the 50watts coming from the head unit, i have a powered sub already. ideas?
Go to your local Ford Dealer and ask for the rear deck speakers for 2010 and up Taurus with Sony audio. If you want the best available 3 1/2" for the dash, get 2 of the front center speaker on the same, Trust me, that's what I'm running, and I love it. For the price, I couldn't have one any better. I still need some 6 1/2s for the doors, though. I think the new Focus and Escape use 6 1/2s that match the other Sony audio parts Ford is using now. Anyway, they're poly and have ports.
wow. seeing as how i am the Parts dept manager of a Ford dealer, i may have to check that out! thanks the new taurus SHO's are sweet arent they.
Earthquake speakers have clear sound and are very good for the money spent.
Kicker componet speakers sound really good.
Yes, they certainly are, ramair, especially the Sony equipped ones. You should ask for a demo. All our dept managers get demos.
I'm going to type this and pray the flames stay down but I've had good luck with PYLE. I put them all the way around in my ranger and 2 12" 1200 subs with an 1800 amp and they sounded decent and lasted through years of abuse.
If you just want some good sound and ease of purchasing, head down to wal mart and see if they still have some Pioneer 6x8's. I did finagle some 6x9's into my white car (along with a Fosgate 10" sub-all in the package shelf) but that was a lot of cutting I'd really rather not describe.
If you're going to have a bumpin system though, I'd probably spend a few more bucks and get some top level horns.
I like my Rockford fosgate speakers. Don't recall but I'm sure it was under 1 bill. They are just for fill. The fronts do all the heavy load carrying.
OE units, shiznit you not.
my demo is the Transit delivery van :(
i bought some Infinity reference 3 way 6x9's today at a yard sale. think i can squeeze them in the rear deck of my tbird?
there is just that rubber band that holds them in, i am hoping they will work.
I did order the oem sony taurus speakers too, i am going to check those out also
You'll have to modify (read; cut metal) to get the 6x9 to fit properly. Trust me, been there, done that, have the war wounds, lol.
I'd wait till you get your 6x8's, sell the Infinity's for a few bucks more and forget them lol
Those trucks all smell funny, and it doesn't seem to go away.
i think they are built in turkey. its my demo, but i dont drive it. i prefer the TC
i would love to see your car sometime, do you do any local car shows? i missed the metro cruise
I've had 6x9s in my car since the 80s... never cut the hole bigger. it just overlaps the opening a touch. in fact... they are still in the car right now
..........I'd like Jensen triax for $100 please Alex.......... lol
....and I'd like to buy a vowel.......
I missed the Metro cruise also, besides that she's not ready for showing yet, too much Michigan cancer. I just drive it everyday. The appearance of the car is currently lowest priority. Form follows function, and a few other projects are more important ex. 5 lug swap, Bullitt springs, bigger exhaust. I may get some pics up anyway, though.
Stuff like this is badass. Do they fit right in or is cutting involved? Do you know the RMS and peak specifications? Are you connecting them to the stock radio/EQ or to aftermarket stuff?
I've also thought about having my stock units reconed. Has anyone done that yet?
Connected to Aftermarket stuff, my car didn't have premium sound, so I gave it some. No cutting, all stock size parts. And you should know by now that specs are irrelevant. The Sony audio system newer cars are using is several hundred watts. There's a guy by me from what I hear that does recones, but i'd rather go with the newer Sony units. Same price, better parts.
wow i took one of those new sony speakers out of the box today, they are huge! monster magnet. now the pigtail for them is almost $30 each, or did you do something else for the connector?
I had some clip-offs. Go around the shop, somebody's bound to have an old harness sitting around with a connector that fits. check the connector flip book, in the back is a table that says all the things each connector was used for. I'm thinking about ac compressor clutch connectors. alternatively, you can "release" the connector from the frame and de-solder the connectors and replace them with your original ones, which you can either attach to where the new connectors came off, or you can use a zip tie or tape or something. Like I said, I had salvaged some connector pigtails from dead harnesses for the rears, and on the Taurus 3.5's I put in the front, I replaced the speaker side connector.
do you have part numbers for these speakers?
