Premium sound amp switch, actually sounds pretty good. Amazed the antenna even works

302/AOD

As far as I know the car was in Kelowna with the original owner till about 2 years ago when a guy in Armstrong bought it for his collection. He has moved on to collecting Corvettes now so the bird had to go.
I am so jealous, I had an 80 T-bird and loved the style of that car, wish I still had it
That's quite the time capsule! Never seen TRX studded snow tires
Very nice, same color as my old 81 XR7.
Nice lookin '80 and welcome back!
X 1000.
That is a slick car....please tell us there's no rust anywhere on that beauty. :)
good looking car!! Welcome Back Scott!!!!
Wow it is in amazing condition.
Drool.....that thing is fully loaded. Good to see all the electronics still work. Amazingly preserved!
Well there is a little surface rust on the coil springs and drixeshaft :hick:
It came with new plugs in the trunk and had a new cap, rotor, and oil change done 1km before I picked it up so i finished it up with a new set of plug wires, air, and fuel filters today. Runs smooooth.
Went for a ride to celebrate and hit the highway for 50km, cruise set at 110kph. Like floating on a cloud. I kinda feel bad putting mileage on it but at the same time it feels so right!
Torn right now between going with 14" steelies with deluxe hub caps or 15" mustang turbines. Either way i will need to buy a new set of tires. The turbines are on my 82 right now and look good with the white but right now I'm leaning towards the 14's and caps... have till saturday to decide.
Oh and the carrige lights, auto headlamps, corner lamps, thunderbird dash script, door locks and keyless entry pad all light up and work properly. :shakeass:
Man, that's clean.
I bet those studded TRX's worth more than the car. Those are probably the only ones left in existence. :p
Very nice! It looks like new!!
Nice box fox!
you going to keep the stock rims? Sharp car! Enjoy.....
Gonna keep the stock rims but there is some weather checking starting so will just use them on special occasions. And @ $400+ per tire for the trx's I dont see a new set in the near future.
Chuck, wana buy some uber rare winter tires? Lol
Nice... those were were the most comfortable style seats ever made
Agree, my bird ruined it for every other car I have ever owned, none of them are as comfy as my birdy! tbirdscott, I have never seen the light up dash script, that. is. awesome....I'm assuming it was an option back then?
I cant wait to get home and go through all my brochures and literature and see which options it does/doesnt have on it. Never seen the light up dash and digital gauges outside of the brochures but remember seeing a car with the carrige lamps about 15 years ago from the back of my moms car lol
The seats are awesome, they dont have the plastic trim and cubby hole under the arm rests which I expected. Crawled underneath to poke around and it has the aluminum front bumper, out of the 5 cars i have had this is the second to have it, other car was an 81 base model. And another oddity of these cars is the opera window trim is urethane where the other cars all had plastic trim. The more of these cars i see the more differences I find.
Looks great. A nice score as well. You don't find many 30+ year old cars in that kind of shape. It's been years since I've seen a box-fox T-bird in person.
Both of mine have an aluminum front bumper too, I always thought that was standard.
Weird, maybe the steel bumpers are the odd ones then.
Anything is possible, these cars seem to have come with more options than Carter has liver pills, both of mine have pretty well no options outside 302, AOD & A/C, one had an 8-track (which still works) so I keep learning of new options all the time for these cars
here is a link to the 1980 Thunderbird dealer brochure ......

Sinista if you want a brochure pm me your address and i can send one your way, have a couple extra ones kicking around.
Very nice '80 Bird congrats! Is it a 255 or 302?
If it werent for the bird I woulda been driving my 87 Turbo Sprint so I can safely assume the Thunderbird saved mine and my gf's life tonight.
Bird vs Moose

I got some scratches on my forehead and nose from the windsheild. My gf got it worse, moose head or leg caught her in the face, chipped a couple teeth and face/knuckles cut up from glass. People from 4km down the highway came rushing, said the bang was so loud it sounded like a head on.
Holy !!! I'm glad you two are still alive after that. I've sen people not make it after a head on with a moose. Somebody was sure watching over you. No night driving ever again !!!
Dare I say that it's better to RIP the Thunderbird...than you and your lady friend...
Sucks about the 'Bird, but it gave it's life for yours.
Someone here a coupla years ago hit 2 cows in a Cavalier...luckily they were belted and the airbag likely saved their life. Car looked like a monster truck drove over it.
Wow! It's a shame about the Bird but I'm glad you 2 are okay. I thought it was bad having to worry about deer but moose would be a whole lot worse.
Wow, glad you are both ok, a smaller car may not have fared so well.
That was quite an impact. So glad you two are ok.
Dang, and i thought deer were something to gripe about! How did the moose fair? Did he get away, or was he killed? Sucks about the car though, just glad you made it through to tell the tale.
After looking at that pic again, the front bumper still looks straight. I've seen moose around here before but (thankfully) never hit one. I did smoke a deer with my first car and that just broke some of the fiberglass out but nothing else. If you have ever had the cover off the bumper they are beefy. That car definitely saved both your lives, very lucky!
I will get it back and use it for parts to rebuild my 82. Should just be a couple days till things are cleared up with insurance, I had full coverage on it. Those swamp donkeys are all over this area, had dozens of close calls over the years but didn't get as lucky this time. 3200lbs of car vs 400lbs calf moose so the impact wasn't really that bad, the car pieces started 50ft from where the moose landed so it rode on the roof for a bit. Pretty bummed out about it still.

Scott, how good of shape are the tail light lenses on there, If you're going to part it, I would love to purchase the tail lights if they are nice. they are about like finding the holy grail it seems like
Wow! Glad you guys are OK.
! Glad you got out ok.
I will be using the tail lights, they are very hard to find! My other 80 was rear ended taking out the lenses and my 82 has a broken one. Gonna be a couple more days before insurance is ready to make me an offer. If anyone sees a nice 80-82 for sale I would appreciate it if you could pm me a link. Trying to get as much proof of value as I can just in case they try to give me the shaft.
Already have a new home waiting for the engine and trans, gonna swap it in to my Comet Which I just got registration and insurance on today for the first time in 45 years. The accident kinda lit a fire under my ass, Gonna be a busy couple months for me doing some things I have been dragging my feet on for too long.
Don't know how I missed this.
Glad you made it out okay.
When I was 16 I was driving down a lonely 2 lane highway. A bunch of cars were stopped, was stuck in traffic for about an hour. There was a giant looked half horse, but hairly like a bear, and huge in every dimension. I would guess 10 foot sholder height. Might have been smaller, but it was huge. But there was no head on it. Wasn't sure what it was. Alittle geo metro hit it at 60mph. The mooses head and antlers were sticking out the back window, and the front of the car was just gone. I don't think anyone could have lived through that one. It was the first time I hear of a moose on a road around here, and only the second I have seen to this day. Its scary how big they are.
Sorry about the box fox, hope you get a good settlement.

1980 5.0 v-8 working ac, 76k miles.
Its in utah, but there asking $1700 if you get that settlement check.
Very sorry about the T-Bird, looked like a great car, but glad you're both ok! When you get everything worked out with the insurance company and start stripping the car, I would be interested in a section of the right rear quarter panel before you haul off the remains.

Its only 1330 miles. It would take a day.
Fordweiser can you show me which part you need? I have another pair of partial quarters that are in nice shape I could cut up. After pulling it apart a bit and checking things over I am pretty sure a roof transplant is doable. Want to find a moonroof car for parts if I can though.
Haystack thanks but the red really doesnt work for me and I had another fly in to my lap :D the add will help with insurance though, bartering with them still....
Hey I don't know if you still have any parts from the 1980, but I have a similar car and would really love to buy the dash/ radio/ speedo, etc. parts. I see the last posting was several months ago... let me know? Thank you --Craig
