Title: might be buying a Mark VII
Post by: ramair351 on April 27, 2012, 10:34:16 PM
an older customer came in to the shop today, I knew he has a couple mk7's and 8's. well, he says i cant drive them all, and i need to sell my oldest mark7 LSC. he shoots me a price, i say "sold'' ( price was right!)  ,then he mentions it has a ford racing Crate engine in it!!  going to pick it up this weekend.  from what i remember the car was a litttle rusty, but its been a while... will keep you posted.

i just got back from looking at it. it is a little rusty, and its been sitting for a while. you can see its got air suspension troubles. its a 1990 lsc, it has a m-6007-a50 GT40 motor in it with about 3k miles. cobra upper and lower intake and a beefed up AOD. runs sweet but the lers are rotted off. also has motorsport shorty headers too.  is it worth $700?

If it was close to me I'd buy it for that! Hell the engine alone is worth more than that. I'd have a new toy! lol!!

i am going to try and get it next weekend.  right now my plan is to remove the drivetrain and part the car out.

Why would you want to part it? It looks good. I could see if it was a basket case but like I said, it looks to good to do that to it.

I would love to have a nice one to drive, but its pretty rusty underneath.  the trunk lid is missing alot of metal due to rust.  exhaust is shot.  the air suspension is shot. and nearly nothing works on the dash due to electrical glitches.  and I dont need another driver, got the TC for that, and parking space is a premium.  i figure if the TC motor ever pukes, i can pull this drivetrain out from under the bench, and install.
it would take several hundred dollars to make this road worthy, and thats not even touching the rust issues.

That makes sence. It doesn't look that bad in the pics. I'd be doing the same thing in that case.

Rust kills cars, but I'd still give 700 for it.

I've seen them in the opposite position as well. Looks like they have a load in the trunk.

There's a good chance the suspension will level out when you start it up.  Often they develop slow leaks in the solenoids or hoses and drop when they are parked for more than a couple of days.

The '86 I bought for parts had the same stance and I drove it about five miles home, front never came up.... Going down hill all the time they do get good gas mileage...

well i figured out a freind lives about a mile down the road from where the car is at. so i can drive it at least that far.  I think he'll let me pull the drivetrain there ( I hope)  other wise the car is about 15 miles from my house. sunday sunda sunday! is the day. I'll take some more pictures

well i picked it up today.  today it had NO air suspension goin on,  so it was a rough ride home. but wow, what a motor it has in it.  i have the spec sheet on it, it has the B303 roller cam, gt40 heads, 65mm TB , headers, big in tank fuel pump,  roller rockers, etc.  it winds up pretty good! still has 5 year old gas in it, and i couldnt go more than 30mph or it would start bouncing all over the place, but the motor felt and sounded nice.
looked it over again, it has some rust bubbles here and there, but its not all that bad. the worst part is the trunklid, and the guy gives me a rust free used trunklid too!  anyway its at a buddys house for right now until i figure out what to do with it.
