Title: Rear window Chrome Trim removal
Post by: EFFalcon on April 04, 2012, 08:21:33 AM
Hey guys, i need to remove some chrome trim around the rear windscreen, getting a little rust appearing at the base of the window and want to attack it before it gets too bad.

now in the event that i break anything, i'm pretty stuffed as i won't be able to get replacements without major costs/effort.

I realise the question has been asked before, and i realise its held on with clips.
but i'd like to know the best method for getting the clips released.
If there is a tool available for it, does anyone have a photo of it?

thanks

From the 84 shop manual.
Not a very good picture but the tool looks pretty simple. I just slid a screwdriver under mine to pry it off, but something thinner may be better.

Try an auto glass shop. They may have the correct tool.

Order some new clips too.  They like to rust.

I happened to get a bunch of new(ish) clips from Kitz for my back window.. or I would have glued that too
