Title: New to the forum pic of the new ride
Post by: Porkchopper on March 18, 2012, 03:21:40 PM
So bought this lower mileage turbo coupe  and was going to molest it for parts but got the stink eye from some people (neighbor wife friends).I really just wanted the pieces but I guess I am keeping it for now.Or until I get bored and yank the motor and use it in a rail and put 5.0 in its place. As for the car 77k on the odometer auto trans has the grey and black leather interior in awesome shape zero rust .

Nice! Glad you decided against chopping it up. All my parts cars had collision damage, so i didnt have to feel bad about pulling them apart. It would be a shame to s a good one.

I just wanted the motor and the rest is well just that a 1987 turbo coupe . I have other hobbys I need to feed and this car was going to feed them I have a nice little two seater sand rail that needs a motor and why not a little turbo 4 banger not to mention fuel injected .

Everything is for sale at the right price. I know I paid to much but I always like this body style but man I need something that has a V8 and this 4 banger does not feel the void .My wife loves it but for me It needs another 4 cylinders

I dont have to cut it up but it does need some horsepower. I feel more guilty modifying the car the way it sits .It is stock stock stock but I am chompin at the bit  to start tweakin things and the #1 thing is that motor .But my wife is holding me back and wont let me touch it she is just in love with the car .If this freaks you out you should have saw the 1992 MARK VIII with 53k on it that I yanked the motor and drive train out of  for my mustang .

The autos were detuned from the factory. You would be surprised how much of a difference a t-5, manual boost controller, K&N cone, and a 3 inch exhaust would make!

This would be a great place to start.

Yeah thats fine but thats not for me I dont even want to touch it the way it is .I been made to feel guilty by my friends and wife they say the car is to nice to touch .But For some reason I have no problem yankin the motor and trans and replacing it with something else a 4.6 would be a cool swap and would look real nice .But for now it is safe my wife would be pissed

As long as the doesnt die, why not do an engine swap. I agree with porkchopper, put the 2.3 in the rail and drop a 5.0 or 5.8 in. I've always wanted to put a 2.3 in a dragster.

More pics of the Mustang!

If the car is under your wife's protection you might as well play with the 2.3 for a little while.  You might just like it although a unique engine swap would be cool too.

My little 4 has gone 12.75@112 weighing 3700# with me in it.  Although not quite stock, minor mods will get them in the 13's.  They are tough little engines.  I have yet to kill any of mine other than head gaskets.  I'm up to 4 tbirds/cougars now.

That is a beautiful car though.  I can't believe how perfect that interior is!  I would truly hate seeing it get a v8 stuffed in it, but then again I hate working on 5.0's

Bunch a babies lol. If it were me I'd be fighting off the urge to drop a coyote into it. If I ever get another Tbird that will be the plan. Nice car.

Sorry cant find another way to post that pic .But the 1992 lincoln mark VIII  came with auto trans and I wanted to keep it a stick so I bought the car gutted and sold everything I could the pain in the ass is the lincolns 4.6 has the intake on the back side it would not clear the fire wall so I hade to find mustang unit .I the proceeded to buy a wrecked 1994 cobra for the t5 I was told it would bolt up WRONG and I had bought a new clevis pedal assy I got from mustang steves that i never got to use but  I bought the kit he sells to use cobra brakes front and rear looks sweet . I bought a trans for 1998 mustang and hydraulic clutch assy and that was the key I so wanted to run the rear end out of the lincoln so bad but the time and energy plus I know my fabbing limitations I am a electrical guy not a huge fabber. But like everything I have owned I sold it to finance my hobby/addiction .The camaro is sold to was a sweet low mileage 76k 1987 iroc z28 I go thru cars like people go thru underwear. And I wont even start on my ATV bikes I have gone thru not to mention trucks
