Title: Electrical I dont need.
Post by: V10KLZZ71S on February 15, 2012, 07:17:22 PM
Stripping my engine bay and just piddling. There are so many connectors and  I wont be using. My 88 has the electric climate control, well had, I am removing all of that, wont need any heater,ac, defrost. I will only need wipers, light and blinkers. One thing I have noticed is no rust anywhere on this car. One question I have is the the big bundle of wiring harness that comes thru the firewall on the passenger side, does that belong to climate control and things I no longer need? The driver side appears to be the important one for ign, lights etc. I will retain elect windows.

doesn't the ignition hot wire for the alt come through the passenger side, with the huge bundle of EFI wiring? something to keep an eye out for, unless you're going with a single wire alt

When i done my old 87 i went with a EZ wiring kit and rewired the  whole car it was  very simple

The factory harness is rediculously heavy

I did rip it out, only the front harness behind the grille is in along with everything going to rear. Took the dash out and removed everything, ac,heater core unit, all ducting and anything electrical.Gonna remove the digital cluster from the dash. Luckily I have a good friend who can help on rewiring, I'll need it.

Just so ya know, if your car was a 5.0 the '88 engine harness is a sellable item. It was a one year only harness, people swapping from V6 to V8 are always looking for those. :)
