There are more if you use the boards search and look for 460
anything can be done.......
The world stands in awe, Jerry ;)
lol
If you can't get the 3.8 to run right, do you think you'll be able to get a 460 to run right?
A 460 would fit in the car.....but mods WILL be needed....different transmission because the bellhousiings are different between the moters....the front suspension would have to be beefed up....it will probally won't be a plug-n-play......when I helped my father with his 83 cougar, it was off the road for a good 5 years but then again it was rebuilt into a street legal drag car, 460 with c-4 reverse shift pattern transmission and ford 9 inch rearend...
What I would do if something major is wrong with moter, I would find a replacement 3.8 or swap to a 5.0....but that's me
If you wanna go for the 460 swap, more kudos to you and hope you have fun and get what you want out of the project
From the OP's post, it sounds more like he needs to acquaint himself with the car more and figure it out. The EEC4 isn't rocket science, and there's not much that can't easily be fixed. Easier to fix than a BB swap for certain.
Swapping in a 460 is not easy.
It's been done many, many times.....4 of those times by me. LOL
If I was just starting out playing with cars I would swap in a 351W before a 460. Much less hassle with the Windsor.
The only reason I continue to do Fox 460 swaps is because I have extra parts, knowledge, and an addiction to the 429-460s.....LOL
A couple of sites for 460 info:
