I found a listing on ebay where the guy modifies the stock radio to have a Ipod hookup. I tried the cassette adapter but they STINK!!! Will anyone of these radios he sells work with my existing EQ? All i want to do is plug it in and play it.

If you were so inclined, you could buy an FM Transmitter for the iPod. It'll plug into your cigar lighter and will send the music playing on your ipod through the air in the form of an FM Radio station. Tune into the channel you set, and you've got tunes. And it'll charge your iPod.
I just looked at a couple on evilbay...

which one do you think? Or is there a better choice? Also isnt a direct ipod port into the radio the cleanest sound quality?
Well, a direct connection would be best, but an FM transmitter will work fine. It depends on what exactly you're looking for. On 27 year old, paper cone speakers, I don't think the difference would be noticeable. But, if you're running something a bit more extreme...
I've used one similar the first one you posted with good results. I ended up giving away my iPod, so now I'm using my DSi with a tape to CD adapter. What didn't you like about the one you were using?
It played mono, and had lots of static noise. my ar has two large amps, pioneer, speakers all the way around and a 10" subwoofer in trunk. all running off a stock radio. it blows people away when they find out I am actually getting such decent window shaking sound from a stock radio and EQ. I already have a RF CD changer in the r=trunk and I was trying to decide o a good Ipod unit. I do have an Iphone so maybe the rf style unit would be good and I could also use my speakers to answer calls. I just want the best unit that sound good too.
Ive heard those FM transmitter deals, the one I heard- I wasnt impressed with the sound quality. I wouldnt get one, but that is just me.
I've replaced all my speakers and have the transmitter. A direct connection WILL be better. I actually hook up both in my truck. I listen through the direct connection and use the FM transmitter to keep it charging.
My experience was that the cassette adapter outperformed the FM transmitter.:toilet:
Wasn't thrilled with either one.
I hated the FM transmitters.
I'm not attached to the stock stereo stuff, so I just replace it with something that actually does what I want it to do.
