This is my 88 Cougar that I picked up back in October for $150. Its a 5.0/AOD with 125000 Kms on the clock. My best friend is a Mechanic and his sister had owned it for the last 17 years and she didn't drive it very far. the only thing Ive done to it so far is added a true dual side exit exhaust system (Very loud cuz theres no lers)
I know that there is no need for a trailer hitch being on a car like this and trust me, It will be gone very soon..... im tired of banging my shins on it.
I asked my buddy and his sister When and Why the Mustang wheels were put on the car and neither of them can remember, so thats a mystery
Let me know what you think.

I will have some more pics soon

Great looking car. As far as the wheels go, many people swap them. Usually when the car started out with the tiny 14x6 steelies with wire spoked hub caps, they are quick to go. Do you plan on keeping it and doing some upgrades, or leaving it as it is? Personally, I'd install lers. If the budget is tight, a decent set of Turbo lers will work great. No lers usually sound like....well.....no lers. Since your car already has a 5.0, that's a great foundation to start with to do an H.O upgrade. It's pretty simple, can be done easily in a day if you have the parts on hand, and makes a world of difference in power, and still has great gas mileage. Whatever you're going to do with it, good luck. You're at the right place here for info and any kind of help or tips.
That's a steal of a deal for $150, especially if that was CN! Car looks very nice. :)
I thought I got a steal at $600.00. Love the color.
I can't ever find a deal like that...Closest I ever found was 700 for one that didn't run. Nice car man!
You got a great deal. Looks like a great car for a variety of ideas. I like 10 hole wheels on Cougars. I like turbines better.
Nice Cougar.
$150 for a non rusted out car in Canada is a deal. Hell in Chicago I can't get a non rusted out car for $150. For $150 you'd be lucky to have floor boards.
I thought 10 hole were stock? my stocky stock ultra base model cougar came with them far as I know...
Any way very nice looking cougar. Thats great.
Thanks for the replies everybody. The car is in great shape for a 23 year old canadian car and she Runs & Drives great, I can thank the previous owner for having it oiled underneath every year, that really saved it, and I would gladly pay somebody to try to find a rust hole anywhere on the underside of the car. it does however, have a few Rust issues that need to be dealt with before it gets out of control..........The bottoms of both front fenders are rotten(Passenger side if really bad) and Im having a hard time trying to find replacements. Both of my doors are in pretty sad shape too, I can reach my hand right up inside the drivers door, the passenger side was damaged when I bought it, looks like it ran over a big curb or something.....thats why the bottom of the fender is missing and thats why theres a big crease running down the length of the door all the way into the 1/4 panel :-(
Il get some pics of the damage so everyone can see what Im up against
Thanks,
Anthony
I definitely plan on keeping it and doing some minor upgrades, I dont want to go to crazy with it but I would like to have a few more ponies under my right foot then what is currently there. At the moment, my Aunts 2010 hyundai elantra will blow the doors off my Cougar.... To me thats a little bit embarrassing
Nope they're not stock. 85-87 XR7s were the only Cougars to get 10 holes from the factory.
oh. well I wish the PO had left the original rims on it. I really not a fan of these. (which is why I have a nice set of turbines waiting for tires under my desk:D)
