I vote #3, even if "ridiculous" is misspelled.

Then again, I wouldn't be caught dead with anything named Edelbrock on my car. It's just a name I associate with .. like someone with a rusted-out base-model Camaro who has an Edelbrock sticker on their car and thinks that that makes it a WINNAH. (I guess that would apply to Moroso stickers too.. heh)

Now I wanna listen to "Bitchin' Camaro" by Dead Milkmen.. lol.

(I'm sure this message will piss off at least one person in the forum.. but if they stop and think about it, they'll realize I'm right.. how many beaters out there have had an Edelbrock or Moroso sticker on them and the owner has acted like they have the greatest ride on the planet?)

OK, Lemme Get this straight.... Having a victor JR INTAKE, Is equivilant to haveing a sticker on a base model s**t box????? This bunged lower victor jr with pro stock style elbow is going on a super charger car!!!!! How is that anything like the A**HOLES with an edelbrock sticker. Funny thing is there are NO stickers on nicks car but a "coolcats" sticker!

If not edelbrock??? what intake would you use???? And what's the issue? It's an update of a friggin project. not interested? go elseware!

You made the poll. You invited the comments. If you can't handle negative feedback, I suggest you trade in your modem for a tie-dyed shirt, a VW bus, and a bong. I'm not going anywhere. And if anyone's making an issue, it's you. I already stated up front that it's an opinion I hold.. no more, no less. You aren't going to change it, and it doesn't really matter beyond my own applications what my opinion of brand X hardware or brand Y hardware is.

What intake would I use? I'd rather use a gasket-matched/ported/polished stock intake, or a Trick Flow EFI manifold, which is probably what I'll use when the time comes. Whatever I use, it will ultimately matter only to me what's under the hood. I don't build my car for other people, I don't drive my car for other people, and I don't display my car for other people. I'll listen to outside opinions, but ultimately they do not matter unless I accept them.

Hey Steve, maybe I missed something, but what project is this for?  What supercharger?  What are your future plans?  What car? lol

Off topic - Steve I have to talk to you about tranny's one of these days.  I will be getting my check in the mail, and I have some questions for you.

Wow, if I didn't know any  better I'd say I was over at cougarnuts.  I've recently learned that such a setup is really good for a forced induction application.  And it looks badass and spartan and shiznit too.

Looks good, and I've never heard anything bad about edelbrock or any other intake manufacturer for that matter.

btw whats with the three holes in it? the only injected vehicle I've owned was a 2.2L turbo dodge so I dont know much about injection.

Title: About Nick...
Post by: 5ltbird on November 28, 2004, 01:21:11 PM
Well they say, "Birds of a feather... flock together."  Bla-bla-bla, I know, but... we are talking inspiration here and a whole lot of imagination.  Ingenuity?  Let's just say... if Nick comes up with an idea it's because he knows he can make it work.  Da Vinci had many ideas and not all of them worked but we all still recognize him as an artist.
I've known Nick for quite sometime and although his abilities are certainly limited by his resources don't be confused by his fantastic imagination and the fact that if he was given the proper setting and the budget... he'd be flat out... dangerously creative.
He is, in his own sort of a way,  a Da Vinci.  He's Nick.
I too have a craving for the unique.  I have a couple of cars myself.  A 92 T-Bird.  My #2 son has a website http://WWW.diotro.com  It's in the gallery labeled the "the pit"  Click on "The T-bird".  It's different.  I also have a 70 Dodge Challenger in final assembly at http://www.uscartool.com  "Rocky's Challenger" It's also different.
Nick knows all about my cars.
Oh... He's also my son... still#1.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'm not one to put down performance parts, but I had bad luck with Edelbrock lifters and valve springs on a 351W I built a few years ago (The cam wasn’t bad though). I'm not saying that their intakes are bad, but I might find out if I were you.

I do not understand what you are asking.

Furthermore, I don't understand why you're asking me something in a thread I haven't posted in for weeks, aside from responding to you. Hello, left field..
Title: Re: Poll: What category Would This Fall Into?
Post by: Cougar5.0 on November 29, 2004, 09:07:20 PM
I chose sufficient. The rest of my comments involve the Edelbrock criticisms in this thread.

I've used the Edelbrock Performer 5L intake and it is one of the best designs out there (especially the lower). Others have had similar good experiences with the RPM (upper) version as well. It is also more expensive than the Trickflow intakes that are very heavy and ugly IMHO. The Trickflow intakes have huge port exits also which make them difficult to align with heads - especially if shaved - the Edelbrock intakes taper down so they can be adjusted to the heads as needed. The Edelbrock aluminum  heads are some of the best quality out there with all of the holes heli-coiled which is not true of many other brands.

Those Victor Jr. intakes can make some serious HP too from what I've read. I've never heard of the sort of quality issues from Edelbrock that Trick Flow had with their valve guides. Their products are much improved though and push the performance envelope a bit more than Edelbrock who are a bit conservative unless you are going with their "Victor" high RPM race oriented gear...
Title: Re: Poll: What category Would This Fall Into?
Post by: Bird351 on November 29, 2004, 09:18:29 PM
Not to be rude, but.. to be blunt, I don't care what your experiences with Edelbrock products are. They are utterly irrelevant to my opinion of Edelbrock. However, several of you could not resist telling me about your experiences as if you were going to change my opinion. I understand this is like standard procedure when it comes to forums when someone says anything negative about a brand you like, but please.. no more. I'm not trying to fight with you or anything, I just don't care to hear it. You can use the standard "closed mind"-type comebacks if you wish, (and I still won't care, because that "insult" is laughable to me) but that serves no purpose other than prolonging this.

And yes, I am specifically responding to your post because it was my first post in the thread that started the edelbrock discussion, even though someone else has also mentioned liking another brand more than Edelbrock. There's a pretty good chance you're responding to what I've said.. and even if not, this thread could probably use ending anyway. It was pretty much dead for the past few weeks until 5ltbird resurrected it.

Please.. enough.

Bird351....Jcassity was asking if you have a 351 or not. Is it that hard to understand or are you avoiding the question?? Second, step off Edelbrock users nuts please. If you dont like Edelbrock then thats fine, your entitled to opinions, but you dont need flame someone for using the parts. So calm your ass down please...
Title: Re: Poll: What category Would This Fall Into?
Post by: Bird351 on November 29, 2004, 11:00:03 PM
Calm down? Why this shiznit again? I AM calm. I am an adult capable of expressing what's on my mind without getting upset over it.

Jcassity knows I have a 351W, I've been around here several months now between the old forum and this one and stated several times that I have a 351W. WHY is he asking me right now? Better yet, how about you let HIM answer questions directed toward him? Frankly, I don't think it concerns you.

Who did I flame for having the parts? I said I wouldn't be caught dead using Edelbrock parts. I don't CARE if the rest of you use them. If you use 'em and enjoy 'em, more power to you.

If there's anything that annoys the hell out of me, it's someone saying "calm your ass down" when I am calm.. so if my future responses go downhill from here, you can thank yourself for that. Just giving you fair warning.

Eat your words a$$

This thread IS NOT about you, it was about Nick's latest project. Get off your high horse, we understand your position on this issue (for the last 4 pages) and if you can post neg. feedback then others can post positive.

Some people, like me, do not read this board every day, or multiple times a day (looks like you). With that said, these members are just now reading this thread for the first time, or reading the edlebrock comments for the first time and posting to the thread. Since this thread was NEVER directed at you, keep an eye on your PM box and STFU. If you want to have a performance parts discussion go start your own thread and leave Steve's and Nick's alone.

News flash, asshole: The moment you post the thread, it stops being YOUR thread. If you want to have a private conversation free from any disagreement, PM someone and get the **** off my back.

You can join your butt-buddy here on ignore, kiddo.

BTW, yeah, I DO visit the board multiple times a day. You get the time for such things when you've spent the better part of a year taking care of a cancer patient who also happens to be your only remaining living parent. You have a problem with that? BTW, it's not hard to see that the last post was by tbird232ci on NOVEMBER THREE, before this guy revived the thread from the s heap.. so don't give me your bullshiznit.

Congratulations, now you get to find out how well I treat you when I'm pissed off at your childish shiznit.

Bird351... what cant I say... you tried to rip on someone for mispelling something... whoopdi frickin do.  Calling people butt-buddies and such... Umm, when you walk into a group of friends... dont expect that sh*t to go over lightly.  Thats just sad man.

But yeah, your original argument about the stickers that pissed everyone off to begin with proved you're an ignorant .  We all know there are plenty of imbred fools running around in IROC's... please dont tell me you take anything they do seriously.  All those Stickers are from parts people put on their nice cars, and stick on their beaters cause they dont wanna litter their nice car but they wanna do something with the stickers and their toolboxes are already covered.  Come through ohio and you'll see hundreds of S10's and rangers with so many stickers on the back window you cant see through it.  Its just one of those things people do.  So if that makes edelbrock bad, I guess it makes summit racing, jegs, K&N, LineX, Flowmaster, Hooker, Dynomax, Griffin, and Holly ALLLLLL junk eh?  come on dude, ya f****d up from the start of this one so just give it a rest and move one, cause the only thing you have left to do here is piss people off.  Is it really worth that to you?

Another one to add to the ignore list.. even signed up just to argue. Dual-poster, anyone? So which one are you really? MDJ or chrome?

Keep it going, kids.. at least your antics are sure to get this thread locked.

I did no such thing, son. I stated an opinion, the thread was a poll ASKING for opinions, and several of you still chose to get your panties in a knot over it. If you can't handle opinions, I suggest you logoff the Internet and never return, for your own good.. because there are millions of people on here, and we all have our opinions.. and, *gasp* we may not share the same opinion as you! Go ahead, make the standard tired reply about opinions, as if it'll matter.. you'll be on ignore about 4 seconds after I hit Post Quick Reply. Please do not litter the board with more duplicate accounts just to come after me because I ignored you.

Point 2: he either is too new, or has his head shoved too far up his ass to reconize the senior members on this board. I think it is a great compliment that they think Atrox is me. Anyone who is a valued member of this community (clearly not Bird351) knows who he is... unless your new then you're excused.

My personal opinion, this thread needs a good dose of Mr. Clean (with pine scent) and his  needs to be flushed out after the ONE statement of his dislike of the product. I know your a busy man Eric, but do it for Chewie! Better yet, you ever need mod help just shout. :ies:

umm, no, just stepped over from another board... see im an mn12 guy, but i get along better with fox guys... so i typically keep in crossover boards.  but just for your ignorance, i decided to register here.  There you have something you can feel special about.

the thread was a poll asking ... to vote, for aswers on the poll. NEVER does it ask for opinions.  But just like the elections, there's always someone that wants to throw a fit and write in Mickey Mouse for president.

... why do I have a feeling you wont get it...

Anyway, I dont think anyone here has a problem with your opinions... as strong as they may be, they have a problem with your attempts to shove them down our throats...  Yes I know, if we dont like it, we can go elsewhere... But here... you're the minority, and many people asked you to move elsewhere.  Get the net.

BTW, apologies to everyone else reading this mess, for my share of it. I'm just really tired of some of the , and I wasn't willing to put up with it tonight.

I know the low point of the year is x-mas for a lot of people.. but this is pretty much the low point for me, especially this year. A week after the anniversary of my father's death.. a year of dealing with my mother's spinal surgery from cancer.. (and this is year two of dealing with the whole cancer thing) hurricane season ending this week, (well, today, now that it's after midnight) reminding me of the horror that was.. and my fiance, the one person who really helps me deal with a lot of this kind of , is in Chicago until the 8th, visiting her family. (I wish I could've gone with her for the change of scenery) Quite frankly, if I had had a year like this 10+ years ago, I'd have probably completely flipped out by now. With all that on my mind, I'm not going to put up with these three bitching and moaning because I dared disagree early on in the thread.. and then tried to put an end to the nonsense when it got revived from the dead. I'm sure this is bound to annoy a few other people, but oh well.

I tried to end this other ways, now I'm just going to avoid this  thread entirely. Jcassity, you asked me something I don't understand why you're asking. I'll PM you about it, and see if it's about what I think it's about. Aside from that, I'm done. Please don't PM me about the thread or to continue the argument or to relay any messages from ignored people. (I almost always put people on ignore who relay messages from ignored people.. because if I wanted to read what they had to say, I wouldn't have ignored them in the first place) Let them go on badmouthing me.. hell, get it out of your systems.

Again, sorry.

Summary:

I'm sorry, but it's not my fault, it's these peoples faults (list people with misfortunes here, this will complete the process of issuing the "I can be an ass because..." licence)

I'm finally going to leave... I know I shouldve long ago.

I wish for world peace and to have everyone on my ignore list by this time 2005.

I am now attempting to look like an upstanding member of this community, hoping you forget about all the prior posts in this thread and others. [exits stage left]

If I wanted arguments like this I'd go over to Cougarnuts.  I try and try to take this place seriously and not post much BS because it's a good board with lots of good tech info.  But now, again, this stuff is happening.  It'd be nice if we could get some more MODS in this place to stop stuff like this before it gets out of hand.

Ok, this has gone on far enough, methinks. While I'm generally not for locking threads (seems kinda like censorship to me) I really don't see anything productive coming out of this one. A bunch of guys ragging on each other over cars or parts is one thing, (which is what this forum is for), but when the insults start flying it's time to put this dog to sleep.

We've a reputation to uphold here,  guys, and that reputation ain't gonna stick around for long with threads like this one. If ya wanna argue take it to PM, email, or another board. Or, better yet, just lighten up, for Pete's sake...
