My remarkable wife!!
This is a story of the most remarkable woman I've ever known, my wonderful wife Tammy. As many of you know she went into surgery last Wed. for recurrent pancreatic cancer. The surgery was supposed to take around 6 hrs. but ended up almost 13 hrs. :( What seemed like a very small tumor going in, turned into major reconstruction when the doc got in there. The surgeon who is the most wonderful person one could ever meet, also the most skilled pancreatic surgeon around, ended up having one of the longest days he has had. He had to call in a couple of his associates to work their magic on a couple spots. He called in a vascular surgeon to remove and/or repair several blood vessels that the tumor had surrounded. Her called in a colon specialist to remove and/or repair her colon where the tumor had invaded. This skilled team worked endlessly to try to save as much as they could, while making sure they got all the cancer out. So in the end, Tammy ended up losing her left kidney, 2/3rds of her colon, another small piece of her pancreas and several veins and arteries . When she finally made it to her room, actually she looked very good for what had just happened. Tammy still had her ventilator tube in, and was given a paralytic to keep her still while she rested. All her vitals were excellent. The next morning when she begin to wake up, it was astounding. Tammy was alert and trying to talk. After the docs and nurses administered a few breathing tests, they removed her breathing tube, and other than being a little se from the tube, she was very good. Almost seemed like she hadn't just been through 13 hrs. of abdominal surgery. She continued to improve that day at a very quick pace, all the med staff were amazed. Later that day Tammy was even able to get out of bed, and we wheeled her down to the family waiting room, so she could hang out with everyone. Later that evening they moved her out of surgical intensive care into the surgical step down unit. They were saying she was doing too good to be in icu. :) The last two days Tammy has been up walking around the step down unit, going "around the block" as we call it..lol. All her vitals are good and improving, she is awake and alert. It is simply amazing how well she is doing, you would never believe what all she went through only a few days before. Tammy is a very remarkable woman, truly one of a kind and I love her very much. I am truly blessed to not only have her as my best friend, but my wife as well. Here's to you hon, you are truly an amazing woman. All the best to you for continued recovery, and a long and happy life. All my love Tammy.
That's great news! She's a tough tough woman. Glad she pulled through.
Thanks.
Excellent progress , I'm very happy for Y'all
That's great news! It sounds like she's on her way to a speedy recovery.
Awesome news..... tell her to just take it easy...no hurry to get back to the routine...She has someone to take care of her....and spoil her...lol
That's fantastic!!! So good to hear!! I'm happy for you both!!
Great news!
congrats to the wife . Glad to hear she's doing well now. Do you think any of that surgery will leave much of a scar?LOL. Had to find some humor. Tell her we're proud for her.....and you.
Thanks, she has what the doc calls a "rooftop" scar across her abdomen...lol. " ^ "
Left side is from the first surgery, and the right is new. :D
Battle scar !!!! Now she feel all "Zena Princess Warrior". LOL. Celebrate well when she gets really mobile.
Wow, congrats. I'm glad everything turned out okay.
Nothing but love, good luck and have a happy and speedy recovery!
