OK the 87TC is about ready to get back on the road but the speedo is way off. Here is what I have.
87TC originally an auto car I beleive so it would have the 3.73
transplanted 5.0 and T5 from 86 capri. any ideas on what gear I need.

Looks like a 21 tooth gear is what you'd need, as shown HERE (http://"http://www.fordracingparts.com/download/charts/129.pdf").

if you can get the gear from a 5speed t5 TC car, then you will be 3.5mph off the speedo will be slow

Speedo driven (the one on the end of the speedo cable to transmission adapter) and drive (the one on the output shaft of the transmission) gear calculator:
