ten years after i sold my house in long island i finely built my new speakers for my home theater system in my new house..
the reason for the title is.. since the last time i posted and got bashed about my car audio system;)
anyway..
the speakers are make from 5" PVC couplings.. each speaker has 4 plus "1" 3 1/2" coupling for the tweeter..
fronts, center, and rear speakers are all built the same way..
i was going to make the subs out of PVC all so but it was'nt worth it
each speaker has four JAMO 20443 5-1/2" Fiberglass Cone Shielded Woofers and one JAMO 20138 1" Soft Dome Shielded Tweeter
the subs are made from 3/4" MDF..
2 subs..
each are 1 cubic foot square external volume, internal volume is 0.66992
and have 1 Miller&Kreisel 8" woofer each.
the system is powered by 3 crest audio FA-901's "225watts per channel in 8 ohms"
YES OLD AMPS! ones that work and produce sound correctly :flip:;)
1 amp for the fronts,1 for the rears, and one amp powers the center channel, and the subs..
225 watts for each channel "front, rear, center, subs
for a total of 1350 watts
other notes
dolby digital processor sony SDP-E800
DVD/blu-ray player panasonic DMP-BD30K
speaker interconnects 12/2 SJO wire
i have two JBL 6208 powered studio monitors i used in my old system in my house on long island but i felt they where to bulky for this system.
so the third amp was needed.
and are now used as my computer desktop speakers..
lol powerfull and expensive for desktop speakers..
i will post pictures soon i found out that the flash on my digital camera does'nt work so i have to wait for good lighting conditions
before i take pictures..
let the bashing insue:raspberry
Nick
sorry the pictures did'nt come out good but it's the best i could do for now

Good job!
PS- Are you using romex for speaker wire?
Now just gotta get a nice new LED tv and... a camera :P
lol no 12/2 sjo cord 65, 30 gauge strands

na lol not yet. i pick up that TV for $200.00 about 6 months ago it has a great picture threw component video ie "color streem" at 480i but one day i will buy a new TV ..
and for the camera thats another story it used to wook good cool pix s200 7.1mpi got it as a gift a few years ago.
i read that there alot of people had problems with the flash not working..
Hearing? what did you say? what lol :p ;)
and thanks
Reminds me of the "80's" ad that had the guy settin in frt of the stereo with his hair
blowin back like in a 100MPH wind.
Looks good so did you make the enclosers out of PVC pipe?????
LMAO:laughing::laughing::rollin:
ya it feels something like that
yes PVC couplings precut and over sized. normally used to connect two pieces of PVC together..
i used 5" the inside diameter is like 5.5 inchs and the outside diameter is like 6"
i wanted to do something different other then the typical wood enclosure. and utilise the right cubic area for each driver while using a small foot print.
it turned out to take more work to complete but less money to finish
ie more labor less money for parts..
about $60.00 for each speaker give or take a few bucks..
each tower will handel 160watts rms and 320watts max
ie fronts,center,rears
the subs 250watts rms 500watts max
Good work. When is the next get together? And what movies have you tried out that kick ass with the system?
