Title: AOD high shift point
Post by: mac_55 on March 19, 2010, 12:49:39 PM
ive noticed since i put the 5.0 h.o in my car that the transmission shifts at higher rpms ?? ive already re-adjusted the tv cable like the book said thinking it was that ..

there also seams to be alot of throttle play before i feel the power hit the trans? torque converter?

im thinkin of also putting a shift kit in this summer

its getting warmer up here so i don't mind stripping the car every once in a while

Are you saying that the car is shifting at a rather high RPM while under a light load/ light throttle condition?

Have you checked where the TV cable goes down to the trans linkage on the driver's side near the bellhousing?  Sometimes the linkage can bind or get pushed out of whack.  It'll act as iff the cable is disconnected altogether.

Could be cable adjustment, But if you did it right it's an aod,  it could be failing. Better take an easy on it till you know why.

its under a light load i would guess , if i stomp it she will fly but still takes a second or to to realize and change gears.
i guess im just looking for a crisp response when i touch the gas peddle not a delayed reaction.
i was under there in the fall redoing my shift linkage ( long tube headers and column shifter) and the cable seamed to be in working order pulled and retracted fine.

In proper working order you SHOULD get instant response....

ive owned the car for almost eight years and insurance was killer for someone my age at that time, so i dont really remember if the trans was always like that because ive never legally driven it ( just around my neighborhood) but im 25 now and insurance is cheep
