OK, before I lose my mind I'm hoping someone has some advice...
So I have shaved door handles on my car, they've been easy enough 90% of the time I've had them until this winter (of course).
So in traditional fashion the drivers door starts giving me trouble first (it gets used way more so no shock there) and the cable I was using snapped. No biggie, swapped it out, all is well for a few more weeks. Now a few weeks ago it stopped working again. Pulled the door apart and the popper pulls down where it should I'm guessing the latch may be shot.
On to today, I need new lers bad so I was hoping to fix the drivers door to make life easier for the shop I was bringing it to (good guys, I try and make life easy for them). To double check my hookup I pulled the passenger side door panel off to compare how everything was hooked up. Everything looked the same on both sides so I figured again it's gotta be the latch.
Well between the ice, snow and the fact that I'm 34 weeks pregnant and have like no balance anymore, I slipped and grabbed the pass door and managed to goof up the latch on the passenger door. First I couldn't get it to shut, and now I seem to have gotten it to where it's kinda closed and won't open. All in all I've gone from 1 broken door to 2 and have to leve the drivers side window open to get in it at all (not fun when it's in the 30's as a high).
Any advice on how to get either latch back in working order, or at least how to get the passenger door back open again? :macgun:
If it's unlatching but stuck, I would try a nylon type of pry bar to see if you could pop the door open. That's all I can think of right now.
And it is now stuck open... **** it, I'm just putting other latches in...
You may have already tried this...
Look and see if the latch is in the closed position. If so, run a screwdriver through it while releasing the door from the inside handle.

....and then use copious amounts of WD-40 or equivalent on the thing.
Done and done. The drivers side is just dead.Everything moves right it just won't release with the outside handle (very bad when you have no physical outside handle. The passenger side I'm gonna mess with again the next time it's decent out. I may just pull em both and see if I can get them working inside where at least it's warm...
Ok, latches are replaced (thanks daminc for the parts) and new strikers installed. The passenger side door works flawlessly, better than it has in years WOOHOO! The drivers side which was my main issue still refuses to open via the solonoid.
My only guess at this point is that I just wore out the drivers side solonoid (still pulls just doesn't sound like it's got as much oomph) faster than the passenger side which really isn't that surprising. I have a new one ordered and hopefully will have good news in the next week.
