Wow, nice job, the wheels look great.
very cool ride.....dont i know you from the TorinoCobra Forum? I post as MY70GT there, i have a 70 Ragtop.......David
yup i post over there under the same name:D
Nice work man! What was it like on the dragons tail? Were you draggin' door handles or did it do OK?
It was a blast,It stayed with the group with no problems I was actually car 2 in the pack went with the local mustang club.I ran the car all out:D
This is what a Gt500 looks like being chased:shakeass:
Nice work !! :ford: :headbang:
That thing is sweet! I like the ponies on it too!
NICE! I love mavericks. How does it run with the truck intake? They're surposed to flow better than the car intake.
Very nice!! Ever been over to Pro-Touring.com or Lateral-G.net?
Shiny Side Up!
Bill
Nice Mavy!
It's a strong runner and the fastest stock 5.0 Ive had.
Nice job! Mavericks were the real Mustang of the '70s imo.
nope,ill check em out though
very nice... now change your Sig to reflect that beast and give it the honour it is due.... ;)
eh maybe later:punchballs:
Looks great:D I think it would look killer with a set of Magnum 500s but that's just me ;)
I LIKE IT! WOW I love those Mavrick's almost as much as our birds and cougs.
Stuckman
I agree, those or a set of deep dish Crager SS's. I think they look good on most older cars.
ive got something in mind for later:D
I don't doubt that for a minute!
It's funny how back in the day Mavericks were considered the least desirable budget cars yet now they are cool. Plus since they are based on the old Falcon platform which in turn was shared with the Mustang, you can do anything to a Maverick that you can do to a Mustang. Since they are a rarer sight nowdays, the Maverick styling now seems more sporty, distinctive and desirable than it's intentions were when they were new... Plus it is a right size car in todays world where older large cars that were the norm are now too bulky and cumbersome.
Now that is BADASS SWEET !!!
new sig
That's better!!
nice man you always got something cool your workin on...
It that a plastic intake on the 5.0L? Did I miss the news bulletin? Where did you get that?
Looks great man. Unbelievable work.
it's aluminum just painted
fresh ones since i cant post some of these on the maverick board via calander pic rules ill post them here:hick:

Again, bad ass Mav. I may have missed this, but what is the color from?

:burnout::burnout::burnout:
Hey I have those floor mats in my 95 T-bird! ;)
Wow beautiful car!! Great work.
Well it is very sharp!
Hey I have that steering wheel in my Cougar!
Nice Maverick. I like that color. :)

..:burnout:
The dog dishes look good. My parents Grabber had those and the trim rings. It was red with the black stripes. Man I wanted that car!!!
I like the dog dish wheels:D
I still say it needs Magnum 500s though;)
I say you get some 10" for the rear and keep the dishes. That is if you can find any they will stay on.

Nice Photos Russ !!
Dan & Paula ;)
That's perty...the chin spoiler makes it a lot meaner.
Awesome!
I am such a mod pig that I would have switched out different taillamps for a Maverick. I always thought it was cool you could easily swap in some Mercury Bobcat taillamps, 1977-80 Pinto taillamps, 1971-77 Comet lamps or even a set of 71-72 Montego lamps. I have also seen people add Shelby lamps.
I like the stockers best I think its what makes it a maverick:D
I certainly respect that!
Cool looking car.
I might have missed it somewere in the thread but is that a truck intake???
Yep. They said he couldnt so he did.
yup\,Thats the way I roll:D
Great looking car. I do think the wheels make it look a bit anemic.
Geez, yeah, sorry. I shoulda bit my tongue. I just like a meaty stance with the rims and tires.
just didnt know what ya ment by it no offense taken. One day ill be able to afford to buy some new wheels
For me anyway, the pony's were nice but cmon the original hubcaps are just, well original. If anything...makes it a little more sleeper. And seeing as that's your username :D
Nice ride
I had a '70 Maverick and it was a cool car.
Nowhere near as nice as that though :burnout:
I like the old-school look of the black wheels and hub caps. Goes with the blacked-out grille.
Almost looks stock ;) from a side view.
lets see how much hate i get here ;)
God that car is beautiful. Can i have it? Haha Love the Rims.
I like it much better this way..............looks good to me.
That's a good look too!!! Looks mean!!
thanks, and no ;)
thanks man
I hope it will handle as good, got a few more upgrades on the list to happen:D
I think it looks AWESOME with those wheels. Looks like its ready to race! Nice touch with the BFGs too. What size tires/rims?
15x7 with a 3-3/4 backspace, 235/60 and 255/60 stagger
I love it. Iv'e been trying to decide what car to get for my next project. There is a really nice Mav near here but I've been going back and forth between 64-67 mustang notch or the Mav. You're making me lean harder towards the Mav.
Where do you get resto parts from? The allure of the mustang is the plentiful cheap restoration parts.
P.S. I was keeping my mouth shut about the pony rims....The new black ones are dope.
Autokrafters sells a few resto parts,I got my weatherstrip from daniel carpenter.I done alot of shopping around on the best parts for the money.
Like the steel wheels
Do you autocross the car???
Or just play
it's something im going to try to get into
:shakeass:
Looking good Russ.......gets more awesome with each new addition! Great pics!
Very nice,I like it.
Put a bigger front sway bar on,rear seat delete, and gave the inside a good cleaning.now if itll warm up ill give it a bath
Those stripes really set it off, especially with the wheels.
new lil project inside:rollin:
Cool !!!
But where do you put the car seats ?? :p
What wheels *are* those they look like weld prostars or something?
in the wifes car :rollin:
that's hot. very nice man :D
What's that commandment about not coveting your neighbor's wife?
What about his car then? lol
I like mavericks too!
had a lil sun today for once!
I know I keep tellig you this but your car's awsome! I like what you've done with it, and the new wheels look great!
By the way, how's the little one doing?
Looks real good with the blacked out rims !!
thats an awesome maverick, your own grabber
silence brings new things...:burnout:
Man that's just crazy looking!
Definitely wood-inspiring!
Any idea on the power?
That car is just full of WIN.
gotta love hair dryers... power specs?
WoW...I LOVE the truck intake! Too Cool! That is a very boss build up. I dig the fact you built and painted it up yourself. Props on the front bumper too. Simply a great looker. Although, I liked the black side stripe you had. It really tied the car together and separated all that yellow. Just my $0.02.
Yeah, fill us in on that behemoth!
You have GOTTA be shiznittin' me. How smart of me to think that this would get left alone and just be a fun cruiser. You sir are definitely the king of "go big or go home"
Hey now it's a Turbo Coupe;)
milage is sitting at 4,360 getting ready for the hot rod power tour
dunno, but on 5 psi it will haze the tires from a 30-35 roll any more just induces more spin
Hey what legs of the tour are you running? I will have my T-bird at Springfield, DuQuion, and Bowling Green. We should look each other up...I'd love to see your car in person!!
chattanooga to birmingham is the plan so far
Well I guess I won't get to see your car then. Have a good time man.
new:mullet:
wow wtf happened to the forum! new format?
What happened to the EFI and turbo. I was wondering what happened to this build.
I just went through the thread again, you change your car more then some people change underwear.
sold it and made some money this motors pretty fun too
Any specs? TEASE! lol
its a 11.7.1 306 , with world heads,big cam, a victor jr, and a fogger kit. backed by a 4 spd.
car now has a disc brake 8.8 under it also
Sounds like a fun ride
You always have some cool shiznit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIGRnQ9AMuQ
Hey SLEEPER T-BIRD 87 , Another reason to bring your nice ride to TC Dyno Day II....:headbang:
D & P ;)
I sure miss this place sometimes
Well dang, look who's still breathing!
Every time I look at that car I imagine it's like driving a roller skate with a rocket engine attached. I heard that the grabbers with the 302 were squirmy because of the shorter wheel base. I imagine that every time you mash the loud pedal it becomes a battle to keep the butt end behind you. Some day I plan on getting a Maverick. I ended up buying my 67 mustang first. I can only hope mine will be half as nice.
I saw a Maverick in a magazine that made me think about you. I like the new wheels, they look good on it.
Sick.
Well, you have any numbers yet? What are your specs.
It makes somewere around 650 id guess now its a 350 buck 5.3 with a shelf cam and intake and carb
It went 7.0's before the turbo with py 60 ft's im expecting it to go 6.0's now just need to add a cage and some frame connectors
That looks really nice, and those smaller bumpers really make a big difference.
simply awesome Russ.....
There is too much win in this picture. To follow up on my previous statement, your shiznit always gets cooler.
car went 6.90's running half track passes on 10 psi with a 1.80 60' because i never put a cage in it but
on 30 psi we were raping 5.80's cars on the street
heres my new 73
on that note i sold the car, kept the driveline bought a 57 chevy and a 73 4 door maverick
I've always loved the Maverick. It's what the 70's Mustang should have been...
for sure, i like them alot cheap to own and build
i hated to part with my 74 but i had the chance to buy this 57 and get another maverick also so i let it go
The 74 was very nice in all of it's different phases, but the Gapp & Roush tribute is very cool. What's in store for it?
its a cruiser driveline is basicly stock , really need to sell it to finish the 57
I'm just seeing this thread for the first time. Very cool!
That is way cool
you got pics of the 57?
it's a pile really long slow project lots of new metal so far
oh, nice...wish I could get my hands on a project like that
That was my thoughts when i bought it, after it was blasted there was little car left i've replaced a ton of metal and still working on that once i get the trunk pan and the driver fender patched i think i can move to driveline. ive got a 55 gmc truck straight axle to go under it and a explorer 8.8.engine will be the same one from the maverick backed by a powerglide this time. for once in my life ive almost gave this project up several times i just dont have the motivation i used to have or the money
more pics can be seen here

maverick a car that all my lifetime facino... a real Ford Clasic Muscle Car.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
The '57 looks like a cool project. It should be fast as hell when it's done :).
The 5.3 LS is going in the '57 correct? Are you making it bigger (bore/stroke) or keeping stock displacement? Not that a 5.3 with a turbo lacks power by any means ;).
correct, stock shortblock stuff only here been chasing the record for a while 5.60's 1/8th mile. we were putting the power out to run this goal before just couldnt get it through the torque converter and the car didnt have the safety equipment to run legally at the track all out .this time it will and i know what it takes the 57 will be a lighter, straight race car. you can make 1200 h/p on a stock 4.8/5.3 ls bottom end before they start exploding rods. we were loosing 200-250 h/p through the sloppy converter
Very nice
That's a ridiculous amount of power out of stock pistons/rods/crank. How long do they last at that level though? For durability's sake I could see upgrading the pistons, rods, and rod bolts, but that would defeat the purpose of going that fast with stock stuff.
I'm actually surprised the Mav was heavier than the '57.
Nice 74! I use to have a built 351c powered Mav, that was an absolute beast. Made the mistake of lending it out a couple of times, and my buddy ended up totaling it in a street race, back in '08. Which was a shame as that car was about as nice and rust-free as any I have ever seen from the 70's. Would love to find another one someday. Another car on my list of cars to build, again, for the second time, lol. Enjoy that beast!
For sure but its easy to do, they dont last real long turned all the way up unless conditions stay perfect all it takes is to bump the rev limiter and its gone
at 10-20 psi they will live a nice long life
the differance will be the maverick was a street car and had nothing taken out really car was dynamatted from cowl to trunk which doesn't help either
the 57 is slated to be a gutted hull race car
The new Maverick looks nice :).
