the 87 AOD appears to be leaking around the tv cable. I've looked at it and can't tell if it is comming from the throttle lever or from the big o-ring that seals it where the lever that the tv cable bolts to comes out.
Has anyone ever changed these seals? Are they hard? Any problems you ran into?\
The seals I'm refering to are 072 and one that would go inside 992.

ask the people over at clickclickracing.com, they seem to know some things about transmissions over there.

I've changed both of these seals and they aren't that difficult to change. They can be done with the trans in the car, but you will have to pull the trans pan. I had to buy a master gasket/seal kit for the AOD to get these (2) seals though.
Really? The Ford Manual says it can be done in the car... But you did it, so i guess you know better, lol.
Also, I found the two seals. They sold them to me seperately, only $.88 too. I was so happy.
Transmission pan has to come off not the whole transmission ;)
Sorry i wasn't paying attention when I typed it. The manual says it can be done without taking the pan down. Sorry.
I don't think you can pull the tv arm out without pulling the pan. Maybe the manual says you got some type of split seal? I got to look at my aod I have ,You might be able to slip it over the shaft.
it says you can take it out with a screwdriver or awl.
