Title: problems with XP SP2...
Post by: cougarman on April 06, 2009, 07:41:54 PM
So, I bought a fancy smancy all in one printer, and when I went to load the software, it says it requires XP SP2 or higher. Now I haven't downloaded SP2, because every time I do, it messes up the computer. Usually the monitor will not work, but this time the computer wouldn't restart, only on safe mode. What would cause the SP2 upgrade to do this? I know lots of people who run XP with SP2, and don't have any problems. :punchballs:

what sort of computer do you have? Do you know what kind of video card? Genereally it is a conflict between drivers, or because microsoft sucks. And anyone who says XP can't have a hardware conflict is an idiot.

According to gateway there is no conflict with sp2. I worked there when it was relesed. I remember there being alot of problems with it. I'm gonna talk to some of my old buddies. I think one still works there.

it looks like to me there maybe a conflict with the nivida video card... I can't promise anything there, but I would try to pull out the video card and use the on board on while you do the update, then try to reinstall the video card after. I guess none of my freinds still work there, but that is what I would do if it were me. I am assuming the nivida is added on right?
