So did someone get sued?
Just wondering that myself. Seems to have up and vanished like a fart in the wind.
It was about as useful as a fart in the wind, so it has vanished.
Nothing to do with lawsuits, we simply discussed it and decided that section had no place here. The only reason I ever added that section to begin with was that it was in the original, EZBoard-hosted forum. I personally never visited that section, but I guess it caused a whole lot of stupidity (actually, it didn't cause the stupidity, it just gave people a place to showcase it). Really, did we need endless stories of stock Thundercats beating PT Cruisers and Cavaliers?
As if a stock ThunderKitten could whup a Z24....Well, a TC could...but... :toilet:
OK here is what I saw the other night(sorry can't post the vid) but this shiznit was so crazy when I saw it I couldn't believe it. The civic in this pic couldn't do a decent burnout so these geniuses decide to hold the car back with a tow rope. I was waiting for the car to drag all of them down the hiway(it didn't). All of that and the chevy powered mustang beat them bad. The year is still early but this is the craziest thing I've seen in a while.
I've seen some stupid but THAT takes the cake. Street racing is foolish and dangerous. If I ever saw some kid racing through my neighborhood you'd have to pry me away from him so I wouldn't kill him. We don't need that garbage here.
Rally racing is it for me, nothing more.
we'll see how popular this next fast and the furious movie is and then see street racing fluctuate accordingly. ;)
Wow, that's got Darwin award written all over it. They're just lucky the Honda didn't have enough torque to pull them all. :giggle:
Great, more Vin Diesel and Paul Walker wannabes....:flame:
The thing I find funny about that new F&F movie is the title. I know the writers of that dreck aren't exactly creative, but they could have at least come up with a new title, instead of reusing the first one. Hell, they didn't even call it #5, or 6, or whatever.
On the plus side, it does look like there's more American iron in this upcoming travesty...
They did change the title a little - I beleive it's called Fast and Furious, the first was The Fast and The Furious. Still, you're right they are very un-creative. It almost like they are trying to create the same hype as the first (well, I'm SURE they are...) by only deleting two simple words........what douche's!
Seems to me like they aren't really even trying anymore.
some of you power makers should troll the movie theaters for rice. im sure as hell keeping my MX5 away from those douche bags. i already get "raced" by everything under the sun. I get the feeling though that this movie is a throw back to the series. the 2 sequels, 2f2f and tfnf:td, seemed to stretch its legs away from the original film. this seems to bring the movie back to it's "roots" so to speak making this truly the sequel to the first movie. but this is just my speculation. we'll just have to wait and see.
what if paul walker encounters a cougarbird and makes our cars value sky rocket like the supra, corrolla, and 240sx. :hick:
I heard the whole movie is about how much better muscle cars are then asian ones. Basically. If you noticed there is a camaro popping a wheelie, and a buick grand national in the trailiers.
A stock cougarbird can out do a z24. I raced my freinds after he put a brand new engine in it.
Yeah, thats just what we need. A bunch of retarded children who saw the car in the movie, buying one and putting a god aweful wing on the back with sh*tcan lers, and a whole bunch of stickers for parts he doesn't even have and a tape on hood scoop and calling it fast. Thats definitely a direction we should hope never happens to our cars. Let the Supras have it.
That's funny right there, I don't care who you are. :D
lol i agree.....
I have seen them stickers (AEM, Edelbrock, ect) at the Dollar Tree here, And It's hilarious when I see them on some punk kids civic - Knowing they have noting more than a ler and a wing, Maybe a Super fast brake upgrade....
Did you guys see the write up in the lastest issue of Hotrod about the making of the new F&F movie? They destroy so many nice cars (i'm talking like $20,000 nice, original Chargers, etc) to make those movies! I'd be cool with them cutting up Hondas and stuff but they go out and buy up NICE muscle cars and then proceed to destroy them over the course of filming. As some one else stated, at least they have figured out that american iron rules over ricers and that seems to be the main focus of the new movie.
Scan that page for us-I want to read the article.
hah, look at it this way. there will be a bunch of wrecked ones we can salvage parts from since those children cant drive. they'll have a stock SO trying to pull the front tires off the ground in the rain right before they meet the DITCH thanks to the open differential.
nah really..
Too bad they didnt use cars like that "buyer beware" 442. the body would look good stamping the bumper with a CGI undercarriage. noo, they prolly used solid, off the frame restored cars or even low milage original "drivers." i dont really care much if they beat a driver into the ground... but a meticulously cared for car, dieing a horrible beat down death... they can eat S^!# and D!& so to speak. i just wonder what that camaro was using to lift the front wheels off the ground.. in DIRT. :toilet:
I'm watching 2Fast 2Furious now :hick:
I have no idea why I feel compelled to watch these movies when they're on.
i do the same thing.. but i usually pick the movie apart from what they say to what i see on the screen. (kinda like pointing out the cannon that fired literally a telephone pole out from under the days of thunder car when the car flips... you can see the cannon in the film but i saw the car in a museum.)
Its an 80-115lb chunk of steel on a bracket welded on the back of the frame. Kinda lame if you ask me.
yeh i saw that on the HBO "first look." i thought it was a engine block at first but as my eyes adjusted i figured it was really prolly lead weights. Also diehard ford fans are ganna be just as mad as the bowtie guys would be over the chevelles. the guy thats basically what seems to be a "bad guy" or whatever, drives a 72 Ford Gran Torino GT, green/white. so expect that car to be killed in mexican smuggling tunnel. from a driving angle, as in the guys who stunt drove the cars.. it does look fun untill the CGI kicks in.
Think it will worsen when they find out it has a small block chevy in it?
your joking
thats just as bad with the mustang in the last one with the nissan motor they pulled out of the vandalized S15 Silvia at the end... :disappoin
it looked like an RB26 but it had an aftermarket, unmarked, and chromed valve cover on it sooooo...... im pretty sure the S15 still had the SR20 stock.
No unfortunately I am not joking, they made everything use a small block so the parts would be easier to switch out with what they had on hand.
The Mustang was an interesting idea but I'd rather have an older one with a Terminator.
Yeah Silvias have SR20DET motors (Red top) but if you take a RB26DETT motor out of a R34 and a oil pan from an R33 it fits just fine. I have no idea why I know that, I do read alot about anything with wheels.
Because the car community has no movies being made targeted toward them anymore.
Unfortunately this is true. Whatever happened to movies like
Vanishing Point,
Deadline Auto Theft,
Junkman, etc.?
And when they do make one, they destroy a whole bunch of classic irreplaceable cars :(
That, to me, is the worst part. Did anyone follow the one of the Challengers from
2 Fast 2 Furious being restored to new on
Musclecar on the Spike channel? Its nice to see one of these cars get a new lease on life. Movie makers are not always car guys, they don't know on car from another there is evidence in this in
Transformers when she opens the hood on the ratty Camaro and says something about a "Double pumper carb" when it is clearly EFI. They don't care destroying classic iron, this is really quite sad. Hopefully our cars never become movie screen fodder because that will mean some more are going to die.
That'll never happen. Our cars aren't part of the "in" crowd yet....
That actually works to our advantage. But you need to remember There is a 74ish Gran Torino in F&F and they aren't exactly a mainstream car either, It starts somewhere.
Hey, they wrecked an 87-88 Cougar in Transformers :hick:
se on F&F they have guys that choose the cars. and they're usually one of the guys that knows the best cars to honestly get to make the car looking good (the skyline that guy that monitors police scanners in the first one... it luckily found an "easy" roll so to speak. but the guys wrecking the cars, the directors, they're the one to blame about the shagers destroying a valuable car only figering it into the budget, as a loss, or expenditure. they're the ones that dont respect the cars. they order a stunt/car with a huge ramp... we know ramps shag the cars over (a miata with only 3 wheels touching the ground?!?!?!)...
Lets face it car movies, although we love them, destroy extremely rare and expensive cars for 2 hours of entertainment. Once those cars are destroyed we cannot get them back. Apparently a Cougar died in Transformers, THAT is the other side of our cars not being "mainstream", people from the production company wants a cheap car that "No one will miss". It is a real shame.
Woah, Woah, Woah......I have only seen 2 pieces of really extremely rare American Iron get destroyed for the sake of TV/Movies. That was a 1987 Buick GNX in a Stephen Segal movie from the late 80's and it was not rare then and a Hemi Charger R/T in Bullit that was brand new........ Just like the TV show Dukes of Hazard, there were 640 Chargers sacrificed to the Orange General Lee....some big block, some Hemi, some slant six. In 1980 the charger was a menace to society just like all Muscle Cars and could be had for the rock bottom price of $1000. The rest of what you guys call really rare pieces were just plane jane cars. Why do you think places like Year One support these movies....???
The movie companies buy reproduction pieces to make these plane jane cars look like real iron. That Challanger on Muscle car was originally a 318-2 barrel car...like all the cheap commuter cars you love like the 3.8 Cougar LX or a Mustang 4 popper....they can all be made into a "really rare piece of American Muscle" with reproduction parts.
What you guys are seeing is the effect of time on a certain market...these films outlive the cars by sometimes, decades.
Just watch Vanishing Point and tell me thats a Challanger at the end...or Christine and let me know thats a SS Camaro......or Two Lane Blacktop and tell me that's not Falfa's '55 210 from American Grafitti......It's all hollywood smoke and mirrors. What you should be crying about is the death of another perfectly good parts car so "YOU" can build "YOUR" dream car.
I would have to say Hollywood is not the problem...it's the guys that buy cars to destroy them...Train Races, Demo Derbies, The EPA and California....they buy a perfectly good parts car and destroy it just for the sake of a few bucks!!!
My $.02.............. I've spent enough time on the soap box.
face it, barret-jackson has built the new american muscle bandwagon. we've all seen 70 cudas go for millions of dollars.
also, i've never ridden in any of these plain jane muscle cars like they were when they were new. so it makes me like to experience that, although i never will.. b/c every one of them will be destroyed mad max style. that adds to "rarity points." they're not a dime a dozen either...
