Title: New build page "Project G"
Post by: 86XR7project on March 26, 2009, 07:38:33 PM
Okay guys, I know I've had a few pics of my car on here before but we got a new digital camera and I was out taking pictures of the tranny linkage anyway so I figured I might as well throw some pictures of my car on here.

Turbo motor at all of its 86K mile glory.

I like how they tried to repair the steering wheel with E-tape.

I at all different stages right now, trim all pulled, paint ideas laid out, cutting out rust. Sorry my shop looks like a bomb went off inside it.

Nothing out of the ordinary other than the headliner makes the inside of the car feel like a tent.

I painted this at work one day, I like the results.

I did these at the same time. I'm a big fan of blacked out trim and the chrome on the front really didn't fit the car when all the other trim was blacked out from the factory.

Just cleaned up my V8 tranny crossmember and painted it to hold off the rust. I am contemplating a V8 in the future but it will stay turbo 4 for a while until I am ready to begin.

Yeah Vin, it really does feel nice to be able to FINALLY do something. Winter always seems to take longer each year. In about 2 weeks I got the big swap meet in our area going on so I'll be selling a few parts and buying some too so I'll have plenty to do. Lets hope I can find some really cool stuff!

I also take a million pics after getting a new camera.

Looks like a nice car!

Is that the C.R. Hawkeye Downs swap you are talking about?  I usually go with friends on Sunday even though most of the good stuff is already gone.

How did you prep the grill? You might have chipping problems if the "chrome" was left on. Looks good man. Rust doesnt look that bad.

Yeah, me and a few buddies are going to go and sell some stuff if it isn't to bad out. Either way, we'll be out there on Sunday as well.

Man if only I had a picture of when I bought it....... It was a quarter inch thick! We had to powerwash it.

This is the killer, I got this car and an 86 parts car for $150! The parts car was loaded with rat sh*t and we took all the good stuff off it and junked it but the price for two cars was to good to pass up. I had been chasing this car for 5 years and finally my buddy's dad got the project car he wanted so he decided I'd give it a good home.

Okay guys, I got out in the shop for a short bit and had a bit of a dilemma. The guy who owned my car before me had messed with the electric fan on this car and I have no idea what he was tring to do if you look at the pictures you can see he tried to splice into this source by the turbo but then cut it off. Any ideas of how to get this back to the way its supposed to be? I'm no wiring master so bear with me.

I say run with it. As far as that electrical stuff, follow the wires and see what they feed, that should give you a better idea as to how to fix it.
