I purchased a '83 Heritage last August and have been lurking in the shadows of the forum since then. So much info here!!!
It's got less than 90k miles, leather gray interior, and almost zero rust. The trim piece on the bottom of the window is fairly rusted. I was told it's from a former Ford imployee in Texas. Car sat for awhile until previous owner bought it. He drove it on the interstate towards Iowa and overheated it within 30 miles. The motor obviously is not running good at all and smokes like a chimney. I knew this when I bought it from him. It's a 302. This site has given me alot of ideas and more questions.
Hello from Ben!! Gone trout fishing...be back after dark!
Welcome. That car looks pretty good shape for an 83. How much was it.
Welcome to the site, where in Iowa are you from? I hail from the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. You got a nice find there.
Nice car, welcome!
Really nice Bird !!! sorry to hear about the engine..............its time to yank it out of there.:D
Welcome........
Welcome
Welcome, stormtroopin' and congrats on your new (83 heritage) :headbang:
Welcome to the board! That's a nice fish!, uh, er bird!
Welcome, nice bird!
Hi and welcome, nice color combo! I wonder why I like it so much? Hum!! LOL!!
Welcome to the site, nice bird it definitely looks worth fixing.
welcome and nice bird
Thanks for the welcome. I live in Winthrop. I paid a $1000 for it, but got another dismantled 302 out of a Cougar to go with it. Rust free cars in Iowa are rare, so am saving $ on body work.
I don't think the motor has ever been torn down. So guessing the main parts are stock. Other engine has heads "E6SE-AA", pistons look to be .030 over, and everything else needs a good cleaning. Not sure if I will even use them.
O/T Did catch my first trout using a fly rod...fly fishing is another potenially expensive hobby!!
Hey If you ever need help or something just give me a shout. I'm only about an hour away.
e6 heads were on 86 up cars I belive. The older heads were alot like the e7's.
Nice looking car, and welcome
Welcome to the site ! My first Bird was a 83 Heritage with a barely running 302. Bought it in '92 and still have it.
Lots of good help here on this site.
