Title: 17x10" wheels?
Post by: fordguy545 on March 19, 2009, 06:07:18 PM
I'm looking for a set of four 17x10s for autox use, but I want to keep the car 4 lug and need about 5" backspace, but everything has too much or too little backspace.  Anybody run across any sites with wheels like that?  Prefer them to be aluminum also.  Thanks

Ive looked at these places, but all I have found with close to the right backspacing is a 17x8

I just havent found the backspace I'm looking for.  I'm trying to be able to get at least 275/40/17 tires on the front of my car.  I know for sure that a 315/35/17 on a 17x10 1/2 with 6.5" BS with a 1 3/4" adapter spacer still had over an inch to the strut and would hit the front bumper with a 1/4 turn on the steering wheel.  I was hoping maybe some of you guys would have other sources that I havent found

Edit, I guess I put this in the wrong forum.  Sorry.  I guess I could get pics of it if I ever get some wheels though

Vinnie,
I am looking at 17x9's on the back and 17x8's 0n the front. What backspace and tire size are you using?  I have a 5-lug swap in place w/ 02 Sn-95 stuff.

thats great and all Vinnie, but I want to keep my snowflakes for everyday use, but my adapters are a pain to get on and off and I really dont want to cut off my studs to get the adapters to fit.

Try calling the company from Vinn's ebay link.  I emailed them once about making a wheel they had on ebay for me in a custom width and offset and they said to call and we'd discuss it.

I used Weld Craft to widen some Drift R rims for my 03 Mercury Marauder.

They took 18x8s and widened 'em to 18x9.5.  Excellent work and wheels balanced right up no problems.

Yeah, I sent em an email a couple days ago about widening my american racing mesh wheels.  They replied and wanted a pic of the wheel so they could see how much room they had to work with on the front of the rim.  I sent them pics yesterday, but didnt get a reply today.
