Title: rear shock options
Post by: 88 thunderbird on February 19, 2009, 12:15:50 PM
Ok im thinking about the kyb agx shocks for the near of the 88 tbird.
Just looking for your opinions on these shocks. I listed the factory tbird lengths for comparsion. And the agx's will be used with chucks mounts.
 Heres some measuresment :
                    88 tbird ---            88 mustang---                95 mustang

compressed    14.75---              12.125 ---                      14.5
  ------open              23.75---              19.75---                        19.125
  ------travel            9.00---                7.625---                        4.625

So 87-93 or 94 up???

Did you measure the lengths firsthand? How accurate are they? I have some data that disagrees a bit.

--------------Tbird/Cougar-----Fox Mustang
Compressed:----13.875"----------12.375"
Extended:-------23.5"------------20.5"
Travel:----------9.625"-----------8.125"

They will work with cw mounts, but kyb aren't the best, but better than some. It's what you want to spend and what your going for. I know there struts are not great, don't know about the rear shocks.

Hi guys, nubie here posting for first time. Does anyone have equivalent data for the struts? I just did the big brake/spindle swap with polyurethane bushings and lowered height by 1'' and am considering strut swap from fox mustang onto my 84 cougar. Thanks,Mark:canada:    PS: I know this a rear shock thread, sorry for the hi-jack.
