Is there any difference between a mustang control arm and a thunderbird one. My car needs control arm bushing and balljoints. I have the front of a 87 gt and for me it would be easier to do balljoints and bushings on the mustang control arm since its already off. If I can use the mustang arms than I will use the spindles, calipers and bigger rotors too.
Go for it, You got what you need.
k i wasn't for sure if the mustangs arm was shorter or not. thanks
For 87-88 birds and cats, the '87 Stang control arm will be shorter and will pull the tire in. If you did this one tire would sit further in the wheel well than the other. 87-88 control arms are the same dimensions as SN-95 control arms.
You can use all of this on your current control arms.
Here's a good read on the subject: http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=9896&highlight=front+control+arm+length
ok thats what i thought. Its my DD and I wanted to do everything in one day and then do an alignment. Thanks for the info and the link.
Sorry, I had the wrong info in my notes, The ones in my head. What V8 said is correct.
I have a set of SN-95 arms w/o ball joints which will keep the track width the same.
You don't want to use the Fox Mustang arms on the front of an 87-88 as a "stock" replacement. They are too short.
PM me if you're interested.
Hey all,
Been awhile since I have been on the site. My Dad still has the '87 XR7 and wants to do the ball joints as well. My question is whether or not the A-arm bushings are the same as the Mustang. Here is an Ebay link I found. Do you think these will fit even though the application stops at 1986 for Cougar?

No.
87-88 Tbirds used a different bushing....
The ES part number I have is 4-3123. The ones in the link will not work.
Cool, Thanks man.
